Wanted to brag about the amazing day my partner and I had. We visited a new indie arcade, checked out a rock show/punk rock poster exhibition, got a tour of an outsider artist’s amazing studio, and dined at Montesacro. A perfect day in SF.

The fliers are for vintage punk shows in San Francisco for bands like Crime and Flipper. Two arcade cabinets with indie video games none of them is a game called Nidhog II. A classic Victorian style apartment that is filled with sculptures and original art by the same artist. The floor is checkered, there’s lots of gold trim and ornamentation, and the art is mostly handmade board games. The games are things like chess and checkers with colorful pieces. A tart on a plate with a few cherries and powdered sugar. The lighting is romantic.

Slop Evader, a browser extension that filters generative AI search results by only showing pages from before Nov 22, 2022 (the day ChatGPT launched).

Cow Tools (in real life)

Actually, I say let's go ahead and let these guys brand AI slop as Web 4.0. Hear me out: this framework accepts that Web 3.0 really was just 18 months or so of people trying to sell cartoon jpgs for profit, and establishes a trend line wherein "AI platforms" are the next devolutionary step.

Some folks like the convenience and perceived safety, while others point to growing traffic, expanded mass surveillance, job displacement, and the way these projects pull funding and focus away from truly sustainable transportation like public transit.

I picked up a copy of Travis Nichols’ “Monster Pocket Doodles” a few years back, but today was my first day drawing in it. Each page has a starter sketch (in black ink) and I’m using pink and blue gel pens for my sketches.
A copy of “Monster Pocket Doodles” by Travis Nichols. It’s a small sketchbook. There’s also a nice looking cappuccino and a bunch of pink and blue pens on the table. A started sketch of a three eyed monster with one horn that is printed on a page of the Monster sketchbook. This is what the page looks like before I drew anything on it. This is a page from the Monster Pocket Doodles book that I have drawn on using pink and blue lines. It shows a four eyed monster wearing glasses and swim shorts. He is muscular and holding a sign that says “this guy”. Most of the art is pink and blue, but you can see some black lines that were printed on the paper before I started drawing.
