Probably should introduce ourselves over here!

Known as "Beck" and I'm a amateur naval historian currently trying my hand at a master degree (part time).

My area of interest is Naval Signalling and it's used/development around the early 1800.

I also want to build a replica seventy four 😂
From chatting with Victory's First Lieutenant I've had the beginning of an interesting idea!

Overview:- Crowdfunding for a full set of Trafalgar Signal Flags and donating them to the ship. The current ones are reportable a little worse for wear and are "cobbled" together.

⚓ Yesterday, I finally met HMS Victory’s First Lieutenant in person after many emails. It felt surreal to come aboard and request the First Lieutenant on a first-rate ship of the line. We had a great chat about flags, hoists, and the ongoing work aboard Victory.

Amazing day today — and even managed to add a few autographs to my collection of naval literature! ⚓️📚

Also came away with a new direction to explore French naval signals! 🇫🇷📖

One of my favourite views (don't mind the tent).

A week of reflection — I’ve decided to withdraw from my MA in Naval History. Confidence and time just aren’t where they need to be right now.

Naval history’s still my passion, I just want to enjoy it again without the pressure. ⚓️

If I won the lottery, there would be signs 🤣
One shall not covet another person's signal halyards.

Quick walk down to the harbour to catch the Ferry over to the Isle of White.

Weathers lovely!

Had a few knocks back recently.

I tried my hardest but it wasn't enough as I unfortunately don't interview particularly well.

I'm heading down to the coast to spend a few days at Sea!

Time to post down to Southampton and treat myself to inside tickets.

June 1796 on her first commission, Captain Miller was ordered to report with Surprise to Admiral Sir John Jervis, then commanding the blockade of Toulon from his flagship Victory.
