👋😎Got Friends?👇
paulistfathers.bsky.social
How many "close friends" do you have?

Has remote work hurt adult friendships?

What does it mean to be a friend?

Can men and women be friends?

These questions are raised in this new episode of our podcast @deaconspod.bsky.social about "the friendship recession":
Deacons Pod: Three Catholic Deacons on 'The Friendship Recession'
Deacons discuss "the friendship recession" – how adults today experience and maintain friendships after workplace changes sparked by the COVID pandemic.

I have already called him out on this and Bishop Barron. It’s beyond ludicrous.
dnd2.bsky.social
Still no matter what, no one can ever do a “good job” on that. That’s all I’m saying. Your opening sentence makes my point.
dnd2.bsky.social
My point is you could find a transparent non stonewalling empathetic bishop who bankrupts the diocese etc AND it would not be enough to ever get a “ well done” from some quarters.

No one ever “wins” . It’s degrees of losing.

I’d love to be proved wrong

As a lifetime Red Sox fan, I understand that sometimes all you have is your resentment.
That’s why I understand MAGA even if I can’t approve due to my Gospel prejudice😎
dnd2.bsky.social
Name me a bishop who 100% satisfied survivors and allies. In fairness, they could set themselves on fire and it wouldn’t be enough for some.
That’s the other side of this

Indeed. The Lord did not command that we beat swords into ploughshares so that gaslighting grifters could farm rage.

Kirk is not a modern day St. Paul, despite what Cardinal Dolan says. The only thing that such myth-making achieves is fomenting resentment, curtailing dialogue, and stifling action to otherwise prevent this tragedy from happening again, says John Grosso.
Cardinal Dolan calls the late Charlie Kirk 'a modern day St. Paul.' I'm not making this up.
Cardinal Dolan joins the Catholic right's ever growing quest to lionize the late Charlie Kirk as a Christian martyr.

No one should mourn the old clerical system of the Catholic Church in the United States, but that system at least prevented the insane zealotry that we see today. The problem is that today prominent representatives of that clerical system are supporting that zealotry.

Can’t we just say no one should be shot for their political views? Do we have to canonize the guy too?

I’m looking at you, Bishops Barron and Dolan😳

Ideology trumping theology.

Happening frequently.

Here you just see it at a shockingly high level.

If this guy was St Paul’s equivalent, I’m the Virgin Mary

Time to Repent

What I’m meditating on currently:

When they sow the wind,
they will reap the whirlwind;
(Hosea 8:7)

And

Then Jesus said to him, “Put your sword back into its sheath, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword. (MT 26:52)

And

Anyone who has ears to hear ought to hear.” (MK4:23)

Yeah, Boomers are just people. Around 1968 Dems were so successful they started losing Union blue collar voters to GOP. New Deal no longer working so they turned to corporate center to win.🤷‍♂️
Now, the New Deal is undermined. Nothing will change until we stop voting in self interest alone. Repent!😎
