I can't recall the year but my last year at LC Webster, 6th grade was the year after Gladstone closed so we had a bunch of new classmates from Gladstone.

Sounds about right. I went to LC Webster Elementary and recall buying them through the school. Moms were just happy to not have their kids around for an afternoon in the summer.

I lived walking distance from it. In grade school we could buy "Movie Camp" passes for the summer. One movie matinee a week. It was just a kids free for all during the movie. We would bring in sling shots and shoot Dots at each other.

At the Plaza in Maplewood we had Flash Gordon from its release in December 1980 almost into the spring. It was the last first run movie before we switched to second run movies. Still quote dialog from the movie with high school friends.

Might be a road trip in my future. I've contacted a couple tanneries directly and glove quality leather is pretty spendy and I really don't need that large of pieces for patching/repairs.
