I'm blaming undertale for the decline of breakcore
I'm drunk also
Oh! I see igorrr in there too, their stuff is pretty dang good.
Cool! So you’ve been looking into the depressive/ambient side of things then? I know a bunch of lesser known artists you might interested in then. However, have you heard any of the super happy high energy stuff that exists?
I still see him mentioned nearly daily by at least /someone/
Idk I just don’t think that’s true, I know lots of younger people who have gotten into breakcore and are very much aware of scud and the history of the genre in general, ironically sometimes much more aware than some of the people who were actually around for it.
There’s soooo much good shit out there. Who have you been listening to, and are you in need of recommendations for new artists? : )
Energy drinks you can skip but you’re seriously missing out on something very interesting and transgressive by not listening to breakcore.
I wonder how many hundreds of TB I’ve uploaded through seeding/hosting files
There was a mashcore specific internet radio station that was active until recently, seemed like they got some decent traffic.
Also, I guess more so than their age is the general makeup of the cultural positionally of community members in digital hardcore and gabber as well as the popularity of both compared to breakcore.
There’s really pretty much nothing like Swift’s work.

Interesting! I would think a lot of people go the opposite direction regarding digital hardcore and gabber. From one of the two, to breakcore, especially because gabber and digital hardcore existed prior to breakcore.
Shit is fire ngl, especially the flashcore stuff that exists with extratone elements
Wait are there people who regularly listen to breakcore but not extratone?? Like all my friends who are into breakcore also listen to extratone.
If you’re trying to combine it with or create more melodically driven elements it’s gonna be more work. If you just have an ambient backing track with breaks and some hardcore kicks it can be pretty straight forward to create something presentable. You have a lot of room to work with.
Cont. add further variation and highlight points which you want to be more energetic with snare rushes, granulized snares, and various types of post processing.
Pitch shifting snares is a great way to make stuff have that quintessential breakcore drum sound. Resample and further granulize results
Oh btw, simple breakcore break manipulation workflow: choose a break (or several.) create a couple repeating loop using chunks of the break(s.) use these loops to rough out a general en and flow/tension and release thing throughout your track.
Whoops I meant trackers*
Dang I’m sorry you feel that way… T_T

I didn’t mean to discourage you… how long have you been producing for? And how many times have you composed/produced in odd time signatures? It def takes some time to get used to!
Also, the stuff you’re already making (ambient, noise, drone) provides wonderful sound design and composition skills to help you make more percussive genres. Having a nice ambient track as a background element can sound excellent in IDM or breakcore!
Renoise is pretty straight forward if you already have experience other trackers imo
Lsdj is super cool, but I’ve never tried to do anything serious with it. I really should some time.
Yeah as mentioned by faustine it’s pretty common for artists to use tracks. Regular DAWs are good too, IDM isn’t that hard to make, usually, breakcore is a bit tricker. But a lot of it depends on how much you wanna do. In both you can automate stuff or use existing material to lessen the workload.
