After 36 hours of battened hatches, I ventured outside to survey the post-nor’easter damage. Fortunately, our little patch of heaven avoided the worst of it. There are some downed branches and various detritus strewn about, but nothing major. The air also has that wonderful post-rain smell (we call it “petrichor” in English), clean and fresh, as if a subtle reset button had been pressed. This weekend was an unwritten Blues. My wife is sick, our car was broken into, and a nor’easter has brought down wind and rain on Brooklyn, stripping trees of their leaves and even branches. I recently stumbled upon this quote from Albert Camus. There’s some debate as to whether or not he actually said this, but apocryphal or not, I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiment.

Mixing picks 826 thru 850 proved to be the trickiest outing so far, as this round of choices strayed quite a bit from my usual instrumental hip hop. As a result, there's a lot of seemingly odd transitions between genres that I wouldn't normally fit together, but somehow it seemed to work. This trip wanders the map, but it's a chill trip nonetheless.

The madness of the wide world has caused me to drift away from good habits into bad. Too many exercise skip days, too few walks. Too many late nights spent in front of the television instead of in bed with a book by 9pm. Too much time spent sedentary and brooding instead of active and creating.

But time is an endless succession of moments and in each we can make a decision: left or right, up or down, forward or back. I took such an opportunity first thing today and decided to spend just this day shutting out the noise and refocusing. Today I bore witness to a truly fiery sunrise and whilst this can often indicate rough weather ahead, that would be worth the price for such a beautiful spectacle. Deep reds, pinks, and purples set afire by the coming light of dawn. Vast clouds stained with color and splendor as they reach for the other side of the world. Truly a vaulted sky, like walking beneath a great dome splashed by Pollock. Beneath the calm waters of Grenada’s Molinere Bay lies the world’s first underwater sculpture park - a surreal fusion of art and ocean life. Created by artist Jason deCaires Taylor, the park features life-sized figures like the famous circle of children Vicissitudes, a lone writer at his desk, and graceful human forms resting on the seabed. Over time, the ocean has transformed these sculptures into living reefs, cloaked in coral and surrounded by schools of tropical fish. This footage of focuses on the lone writer and several other standalone pieces.
