I support a lot of PM Carney’s agenda, but I can’t decide what’s the greater surprise: the apparent downgrading of climate change as one of his top policy priorities, or the public quiescence of so many Liberal MPs & cabinet ministers who didn’t used to support drill-baby-drill.

Five corporations control 90% of the US media market.

Airlines merged from 12 major carriers in 1980 to 4 today.

Four giants control 80% of meat processing.

A handful of companies control the pharmaceutical industry.

The evidence of corporate concentration is everywhere.

"Canada does not have the luxury of being able to avoid hard foreign policy decisions, as it had until recently. All too comfortable with the tremendous security and economic benefits we derived from close relations with the US, we became complacent"
My new op-ed in The Globe and Mail today: Canada badly needs to diversify its trade and security partnerships - and this should include deeper ties with the UAE and other Gulf states.

For people in crisis, those cuts mean fewer doctors, fewer medicines, less hope.

It is a moral failure dressed up as fiscal responsibility. If we take away the abstract language and political doublespeak, Canadians may find the human cost of these cuts too

I honestly don’t know how Mark Carney wrote a book called *Values*, with chapters dedicated to climate action and now that he is Canada’s Prime Minister he is a no-show at COP30 and is expanding Canada’s fossil fuel development. This is very elbows down hypocrisy. I’m so disappointed.
