Punishment can be anything..

Captured mid act, and being forced to eat cake leftovers by the baker who traps them..

being put in the stocks and free-used and stuffed until they can't steal anything anymore..

Could have to work off the stolen value at the bakers and romance blooms from there but..

I think most of the time they do get away safely, just get as many boxes and donuts and cakes as they can carry and carefully push their stuffed gut through the window they broke in through.

Escape into the night to enjoy their spoils and sleep off the food coma.

But when it goes wrong...

Wanting to plug someone up before stuffing them, making sure the plug is big and girthy enough to not just pop out from the amount of food you plan on cramming into their guts.

Cue the plug itself being a hefty item on its own and a bit of work to get pushed in place, leaving a noticeable bump.
