The NY Post is reporting that Torrens & Peterson are both finalists in consideration for the Gold Glove Award. The Mets haven't won a Gold Glove Award at any position for some time (Lagares 2014 OF).

5 others (inc. Diaz) are all up in the air w/no guarantees beyond there will be changes. The contract w/Jacques is a $800k MiLB deal that's pro rated aka low risk high ability to run away from. I repeat-- a let's see what we can do option.

6.02 ERA & 1.66 WHIP-- again not jaw dropping numbers. So rehab job IMHO & more of "let's see how it goes" way to patch some possible life or at least a backup plan for the bullpen if plan A goes south. They need to do something. Only Minter & Raley are signed. Reed is going to be IL all season.

showing enough innings to qualify but based on their stats I can put him at 7.03 ERA on 486 MLB pitches so SNY must be included his minor record which I'm too lazy to look up but SNY puts him at minor stats of 4.19 ERA and 1.40 WHIP in 7 seasons in minors. They also note he has this past season a

Again most of that time has been MiLB. So this seems more of a reach to see if maybe the Pitching Lab can turn him around or w/proper AAA mentoring make him MLB worthy. His prior work in the majors is honestly nothing to write home about. SNY marks him as a 5.46 ERA & 1.65 WHIP. Again Statcast isn't

SNY (among others) is reporting the Mets have signed relief LHP Joe Jacques to a minor league contract. Jacques made MLB appearances in 2023 & 2024 but has spent most of his time in the minors. Statcast Savant therefore can't qualify him. Jacques is 30yo so though rookie looking he's been around.

The Brewers are no sloth lineup for sure. Jackson Chourio's early inning HR yesterday was his 4th postseason HR tying all-time MLB record for players under 22 yo at 5 total. The player he's tied with? That's NYM Juan Soto.

Chourio btw is 21 yo so he got at least 1 more game to break it & another

This is probably the only Oct CG you'll see for another 8-10 seasons. It's just no longer valued BUT for LAD who used their bullpen a lot over the prior 2 games this was a much needed extra day off for the relievers. Expect lots of relief swaps tonight as LAD tries to get a prized 3rd W in 3 games.

Prior to last night the previous CG by a pitcher was 2017 ALCS by Justin Verlander. It's been a while & CG's in post season are becoming more rare as sprint style relief pitching has taken over the game especially in post season. Pitcher meets the minimum & is swapped is the norm now in playoffs.

The Blue Jays take on the Mariners tonight at 8p on FS1. Toronto sends out Bieber (Sean not Justin unfortunately) against Seattle's Kirby who has the ERA advantage but a less cool name. Odds are on the Jays slightly but the Mariners are 2 games up in this 3rd of the series. The Jays need to W here.

but LAD broke up things starting w/a R in 6th. They'd do the same in 7 & 8 resulting in a 5-1 W w/only 3H 1BB allowed by Yamamoto while getting 7 Ks. A brilliant performance backed by great DEF to get ground outs & fly outs. Peralta started off good through 5 & looked sharp. The wheels fell off in

Yamamoto ended up throwing a complete game to pickup 2nd W in the NCLS championship series against the Brewers. He gave up a HR in the 1st inning but the longer he went the smoother things got. It was Yamamoto's 1st CG & the team's 1st postseason CG since 2017. The game was close through 5 at 2-1

Pat Ragazzo of SI is reporting that the Mets are hiring Kai Correa as their bench coach. Correa has been w/the Guardians as their field coordinator as well as in charge of strategy for the team most recently. He was a bench coach w/the Giants prior in 2020-23.

SNY is reporting per Jeff Passan at ESPN, Jeff Albert will be in charge of the Mets hitting program next year. He is in that role (director of hitting development) currently so he's another "keep" on the staff.

The TN Titans have fired their head coach Brian Callahan because of their 1-5 record so far this season. Meanwhile in NY the Jets who are 0-6 & the only winless team in the NFL are... doing... something... maybe... probably not. Another rough year for Jets fans it seems. 🤷😒

that lowers the risk of bullpen issues. Toronto is in a similar boat w/Yesavage going 4IP but giving up 5ER followed by 7 relievers including Bassitt filling in. That's even worse relief usage & the Jays got pounded.
