I help run an independent open access journal and one can’t fathom the amount of pure ire and disbelief I have to suffer dealing with early career researcher peers who somehow don’t even know how to use pre-built styles in Word. Were it for me we’d use LaTeX, but they can’t even follow instructions
“Can’t exploit your local immigrant minority because of a fascist xenophobic government takeover? Worry not: now you can do that cross border with the help of our awesome technology!”
Ireland has the different problem of being basically a corporate tax haven in the context of the EU, so I assume that corporations having to rent offices there for their HQs and their managers being quite wealthy drive rents up to unreasonable heights relative to what the locals can pay
This bubble will hit everyone hard, probably way harder than the 2008-2011 financial crisis, especially considering the currently volatile political climate in some major western countries
She must be lucky not to live in a capital or in a hypertouristic city, because where I live over tourism has turned the housing market crazy: there’s only B&Bs everywhere and prices and rents are insane
I was looking for something of this sort in the comments, lmao

Although perhaps Ocelot would fit more
Is this finally when we’ll see Jenny and @katie.bzky.team fight?
Oh no. Who does this and where? You know, just to steer away from it
Also, who the fuck really cares about distinguishing a parent’s cousin from an uncle/aunt? I’ve always called my mother’s cousins simply cousins and their because they were my age and’s their father uncle. Couldn’t ever be bothered with the distinction unless it was relevant to specify
I’m pretty sure he would’ve called AI a glowy psy-op to distance people from God, in radical opposition to him building the third temple
This used to be indeed taught on fora by a priestly class of elderly users that would utter the ritual words “RTFM” to newbies
You will see the light, eventually. TS is the only good thing Microsoft has ever done
It’s probably a matter of habit, but I can’t even think of declaring a variable without knowing what type that variable is, it’s not like you necessarily have to play system architect. And compiling is just one more instruction in whatever script you need to run to test or deploy the code anyway
It basically works the same but with types, that makes it more convenient rather than sacrifice any convenience. “Hello, I would like implicit type casting and having to use === constantly” said no one ever (/s)
It’s not my fault: I was taught programming in C. If something doesn’t AT LEAST look like C I can’t get off and I start brooding
I hate the “best practices” and “clean code” choir so much! Code should take the form that is best for the task. I chose to keep programming as a hobby rather than a career also because I know that I would be perpetually pissed off by being told to consider management perspectives (readability etc)
I understand! But imho, it’s WAY easier to deal with TypeScript and it compiles to JS anyway. It solves the “why no types in JS fml” problems by simply adding them. I reckon it might make your life easier
And that’s why one should use TypeScript
That’s why not using TypeScript is madness
Early pannenkoek videos: gets a start without A presses using clever routing and tricks

Latest pannenkoek videos: “And I land with the right angle because previously I fought Bowser and threw him at a precise angle” “Six months of brute forcing BTW”
If you can, do yourself a favour and use typescript
I checked and there was only this paragraph: “she has too much street wisdom, her heart is too big, she smokes more different than anyone, her bitch is too bad. We have to take her out”
Doesn’t this test entirely rely on how good your screen is?
