Also, I do not buy the explanation that "Father Figure" is about her old manager. To me it comes off way more like a fantasy about crushing the younger, up-and-coming female artists that will inevitably replace her.

I struggled to describe Showgirl at first, but eventually settled on "Taylor completes her metamorphosis into the Regina George of the music industry." Not that she wasn't that already, but the controlling, cruel, mercenary mean-girl behavior really popped out on this album.

Hearing this one line—this ONE line—was enough to make me turn off the song it was in, then calmly go through all my Apple Music albums/playlists and delete every Taylor Swift song I'd ever saved. And I will not regret that.

Inspired by that ridiculous "garlic-scented vampire romantasy" skeet from earlier, I've been brainstorming ideas for scented editions of other novels. For example, have a special edition of THE GREAT GATSBY which reeks of booze, gasoline and pool water (but mostly booze). 📚
