Hello World(Builder),
What relational tech do we need?

Belonging, to be longing, to feel safe and welcomed and enough to yearn for what and who one truly seeks, to be longing.

Enthralled with the notion of ‘compost engineers’ cohering into ‘communities of compost’ to move into this next ‘artificial intelligence’ era with more groundedness and connection in discerning how we relate to and build technology. Excellent work.

Are we trying to replace eldership with technology? Elders were part of the accountability fabric of communities - universally trusted with granting appropriate permissions. They had nuanced lenses from generational wisdom to understand the people in context, and they had the guidance of place.

Reminders that mistakes can be repaired: removal of Glines Dam leading to the return of salmon and their multi-generational memory.

(However, post-repair still requires maintenance! Some debris is in the removed dam and blocking the salmon passage again, and people don’t want to deal with it 😒)

‘When we talk about place-based working, it doesn’t just mean doing the same thing but in a local area, rather than nationally. Good place-based work achieves a more radical reset.’ 👏 👏

Appreciated this piece for both celebrations and questions endstate.substack.com/p/seeing-lik...

Many examples of when necessity is the mother of invention.

But do we actually know what our needs are?

Sitting with a concept from an Anglican service I went to on Sunday… where work CAN be rest, if we are truly able to rest our minds, hearts, spirits, and general anxieties in the trust that the work matters and contributes meaningfully to something bigger 🤔

Funny how dancing in public is socially weird when scrolling in public is socially expected 🤪

'Creating a town of hospitality workers does nothing to restore a village except as a modern Disney Land for expats—a historic Italian village serving as an attraction to relive the past, rather than a place to build the future.' www.elysian.press/p/matera-as-...
Maybe villages are our future—not just cities
Italy's Matera as a case study for revitalizing small governments and creating a future of interconnected villages.
