Always thought it not more than a construct myself… A way for people who make a living off selling analysis newsletters to have something to yap about.
Would be the American way: during the Spanish civil war US companies sold arms and goods to the fascist rebels on credit but insisted on cash sales when it came to the legitimate republican government.
