Father of a scientist. Living vicariously. One degree of separation from the things I really love and should have pursued: Science, AI, Music, History, Writing. Surrounded by the things I really hate: Politicians, Organized Religion, Grifters.

Been away from social media for a while. My mental state is not getting better. More and more, I struggle with trying to see silver linings. The worst part is watching others support the opposite of goodness. My kind of discomfort is their rai·son d'ê·tre. Humans. So disappointing.
Would the suggestion of relatedness to a natural flavor be enough to alter the perception in our brains in favor of “yeah, it’s strawberries”?
My son just got turned down for a postdoct position at the Smithsonian. He is in Madrid right now. He has a PhD in behavioral ecology. He has dual citizenship US and Spain. He’s not on Bluesky. Can he reach out to you for advice? Here’s his Wordpress page: alephrocco.com

Currently reading this book! It’s made me more aware of how my brain neural circuitry works, why I sometimes connect unrelated frames, why I mix my metaphors, have faulty analogies, and why I should have started to learn new things earlier. Also reading M Johnson’s “The Meaning of the Body.”
Yes, but do you realize how much the old paraphernalia will be worth in the open market?
I love DakhaBrakha since the first time I heard Vespa

But the employment rate would improve as those vacancies are filled, right? In addition, immigrants are lazy, don’t have jobs, and are on welfare.

I know. There must be at least one neuron in a racist’s brain that puts up its dendrites in desperation, and is summarily exterminated by its host.
I layman terms please. It is possible to predict which way the mice will turn by detecting signals in their brains BEFORE they make the choice?
Whose idea, as the article opens with, was it that the mapping in the brain reorganizes itself after losing a limb?
Yes. But I meant that one pollinator would target another pollinator in the act of pollinating to have more nectar available for themselves.
Seems that the competition is for flowers to attract all pollinators, but there’s no competition amongst pollinators? Bees don’t kill mosquitoes right?
I’m ok with falling. It’s the sudden stop that scares me.
Looking forward to the hidden moral lessons to be learned from Larry’s curly hair and Curly’s lack thereof.
It seems like I can, but it might just be a “feeling” and is not really a physical response.
