More people are developing the disease as they age and because doctors are identifying it more actively through improved diagnosis. The predicted numbers in multiple studies range from 1.2 million in the U.S. to 25.2 million worldwide by 2050.

I’ve lived with essential tremor for as long as I can remember. The shake in my hands, head, my voice, my mind…have followed me through every season of life — a quiet, persistent reminder that my body moves to its own rhythm.
