Really scary news from East of England Ambulance Service that they are under extreme pressure amid high demand. It is only September with the busy season for falls & covid/flu etc still to come. If they are stretched now what will they be in January? www.maldonandburnhamstandard.co.uk/news/2548785...

Agree entirely with the Grumbler on Christmas goods this early but mince pies may be a special case. We get plenty of seasonal items esp fruit & Veg available all year round so why not make mince pies an normal bakery item rather than a Christmas item. To quote "A mince pie isn't just for Christmas"
There are Mince Pies in my local supermarket. Before the cricket season is over

Another issue the ECB have utterly failed to deal with
Although Govt league tables can mislead it is still sad to see that the Essex NHS trusts are all nationally well under average and my local trust -Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is 123rd out of 134 nationally. That certainly reflects local perception. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

@essex.gov.uk are consulting on reducing financial support to 41 routes in Essex including Southminster to Chelmsford and Bradwell to Maldon & Bradwell to SWF . That could well mean loss of some services. If you use or support these routes comment on consultations.essex.gov.uk/iptu/localbu...

I am all in favour of apprenticeships but I thought Greater Anglia were losing their franchise on October 2025 to re nationalisation. Most staff will transfer over so will the new Govt body take them on?
Some sad local news with the death of Brian Beales who was an independent Parish and District Councillor for many years and did so much work for the people of Southminster. RIP Brian

Cancellation of the much needed widening of the A12 has rightly attracted criticism and now the Govt are writing of costs to date of £250,000. Labour blames the Tories who in turn blame labour. Rather than cancel why not delay & add to the next tranche of roadbuilding that will follow in a few years
Lovely photo of a very flat River Blackwater
A big weekend on the River Crouch at Burnham as we celebrate 90 years of the Royal Corinthian One design boats with the surviving boats racing & saluting the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club which will be good to watch from the river bank. #RCOD #RCYC www.maldonandburnhamstandard.co.uk/news/2533322...

Some good news about a new Farm Shop opening in the old cafe opposite Fiveways in Burnham on Crouch. The cafe has had several owners in recent years but done have generated enough trade so a shop selling fresh veg is welcome. www.maldonandburnhamstandard.co.uk/news/2533167...

Some services are moving from St Peters but Outpatients, x ray etc are staying for 5 years with a view to opening new health care centre to house them at the end of 5 yrs. Great local campaign!
Yet another great school holiday event in Althorne
The accident yesterday with a private jet crashing shortly after takeoff at Southend is a tragedy for those families affected. It shows the folly of using an airfield where housing estates are closely pack around its perimeter so after another few seconds flying it would have crashed into the houses
