Fat-free Mincemeat
This recipe is adapted from Hannah Glasse’s 1747 recipe for Mince Pies for Lent. Nowadays, we traditionally make mincemeat far in advance of the festive season, so that it can mature in flavo…

Candied Peel
A forgotten art in British preserving is home-made candied peel. ‘But I can buy that!’ you shriek. Yes, I know. But if you’ve ever tasted fresh candied peel made with nothing more…

I'm looking for your opinions on festive mincemeat!

Do you prefer a treasured family recipe?
Something different each year?
Vegan? Vegetarian?
Can't stand the stuff?? (if so, interested to know why)

I'm all ears!

#TodayInMyKitchen Figgy Pudding quandaries.

1st recipe: old school, just figs, cinnamon, nutmeg.
2nd recipe: figs, lemon zest & juice, candied citron.

2nd recipe tastes nicer than the first, but you can't taste the figs any more.

Is it still a Figgy Pudding if it no longer tastes of figs? 🤔

#TodayInMyKitchen Roasting Chickens

1. Put chickens on rack.
2. Slosh water under rack.
3. Bake 4 hours @ 120°C Fan.

(Optional) For a rich colour, brush skin with eggwhite.

Not yours. The chicken's. (See pic).

And that's it. #NoFaff™

More simple, quick supper ideas - this one based on the eastern European dish Haluski.

Cabbage/kale/brussels sprouts & pasta - fresh or dried.
A couple of onions, butter & pepper and vwa - as they say - la! 😋

Add some bacon/fakon/ham if you like
