turns out there was a bug with the new billboard shader, but ONLY for android users, ONLY on the TTC streetlamps/trees, and ONLY when the holiday is Halloween. this issue does not affect anything else using the new billboard shader.

i fixed it, but here's a video of the perplexing yet hilarious bug

Baritone Boulevard was added to #Toontown #VRChat! Additionally, Toontown Central's billboarded objects now use the new billboard shaders.
I've also redone a few of the atlases (or as Toons know them, "palettes") for TTC's textures. These invisible changes should hopefully optimize the world further

The Baritone Barber, located in, like... I guess this is an alleyway? It's a weird layout, but I like when ToonTown's street layouts are weird. It makes them more memorable.

This shot showcases multiple billboarded objects found in ToonTown Central. Specifically, the Mickey statue, the fat tree, the three-lamp streetlight, and the piggy banks.

Here's a behind-the-scenes peek at one of my custom atlases (or "palettes"). This one crams Toontown Central's Bank, Library, Toon Hall, and Gazebo into a single 1024x1024 texture whilst using the original art assets at their original resolution. This is an improved approach over using the UV layouts of ToonTown Online's original "palettes", whilst scaling those palettes up to fit the largest original art asset in a power-of-two resolution. This led to a lot of 2048x2048 palettes that frankly didn't need to be that large. It's honestly a small wonder that a Quest 2 could hold a steady 72fps rendering the world like that. Of course, the frames would begin dropping as more players joined the world, so hopefully redoing the atlases/palettes will help squeeze a bit more performance and battery life out of weaker hardware.

In Super Mario Odyssey, kicking things is Mario's highest priority, overriding all other actions. If a kickable object, such as a football, is thrown at Mario while he is asleep, he will momentarily wake up just to kick it before instantly going back to sleep.

#Toontown #VRChat has been updated to add Alto Avenue! If you despise the color green, this is a lovely street to stroll through.
If you love the color green, I'd direct you to Acorn Acres, which has been updated to use the new billboard shaders. (And it's a very nice spot to chill for Labor Day!)

#Toontown #VRChat has been updated! Minnie's Melodyland has been added. Plus, there's now a touchscreen button for the Shtickerbook, so mobile users won't be left behind.
Next step is to add Alto Avenue and gradually convert all prior billboarded objects from using scripts to shaders.

for those of you who followed me for my toontown stuff, sorry about not updating for a full year! i got very very distracted, and it turns out time waits for no one.

i’m working on minnie’s melodyland now though, along with a few subtle improvements. next update shouldn’t be too far off!
