Hi! I’m the Wolf behind Deep Learning With The Wolf- a free newsletter that explains AI through storytelling. I also write just for fun. I live in Silicon Valley, and my stories tend to have a California flair.
You haven’t lived until you’ve seen a $649 SpongeBob claw machine, a virtual golden retriever, and a $14 VR headset next to an 8K flying drone.

Costco in December is a FASCINATING place.

Camouflage, Competition, and Code: The Legacy of GANs.

GANs may not power your favorite AI tools anymore, but they taught machines to imagine. And it all started with a neural battle and a chameleon in Hawaii. #generativeai #deeptech #gans #aistorytelling

Thought our car was losing its mind.
Turns out, we accidentally put it in Mad Max Mode.
Yes, that’s a real Tesla setting.
And yes, it’s as chaotic as it sounds.

You don’t buy one item in isolation at Costco. You buy it next to 25 others. ChatGPT uses that same logic when clustering meaning.

Before caffeine, my brain works just like a beginner AI. Mostly confused. Always scanning.

Try self-driving,” the Tesla said.
So we did. What happened next? The car dove for the shoulder.

In our latest piece, I take you inside Tesla FSD v14.2.1 — the version Elon Musk says is ready to drive itself. Our experience? It’s smoother, smarter… and still a little unhinged.

The best AI systems aren't built on perfection.
They're built on organized chaos—many imperfect models voting together.
It's called ensemble learning. And I learned it the hard way, at age five, from a swarm of very angry bees.

ChatGPT isn't AI. ChatGPT uses AI.
The distinction matters.
One is a tool you can avoid. The other is the infrastructure of modern civilization.

This summer, a mouse outsmarted me for weeks.

By the time I caught him, I realized we were running the same algorithm.

Turns out, reinforcement learning looks like a tiny genius stealing sunflower seeds.

Dynamic pricing means your neighbor might see a cheaper price for the same item. Retail AI tests how badly you want it by observing your online behavior. Stop overpaying: use these specific AI tools to freeze trackers and find the true lowest price.

My first pot of chili nearly set my husband on fire. That error? Valuable data. In AI, this is called a “loss function”—and it’s deliciously useful.

Every summer, one ant appears in my kitchen. By morning, there are hundreds. That's exactly how neural networks work. Emergent intelligence.

Ever wonder what AI really is?
It’s not a brain. It’s not a robot.
It’s... an octopus.
Here’s a quick, strange, and surprisingly helpful way to think about artificial intelligence.

You can now put down a deposit on a home robot. Think "robot butler." But here's the twist: when it gets confused, a remote human operator may take over—and your living room becomes training data. Spoiler: yes, it can fold laundry and load the dishwasher.... just.... slowly.

Robots can do some amazing things, but struggle to do things a toddler can do, like pick up a grape. It's "the hands problem" in robotics. It's why you don't have a humanoid in your house unloading your dishwasher and making you a cup of tea.
