It contains an all-time great horror performance from Michael Parks, a truly grotesque commitment to body horror, and an ending of profound, nihilistic tragedy. A truly bizarre, one-of-a-kind film. #OctoberMovieChallenge #FilmSky #MovieSky #BodyHorror #Horror

Critics mauled it, but this is a solid "industrial gothic" offering. Tobe Hooper's laundry is a grimy & oppressive -- a hellish dungeon
Englund & Levine are 100% committed. A worth King adaptation.

Eli Roth’s Knock Knock (2015) is a relentless watch. A nasty, darkly comic morality play where Keanu Reeves' domestic ideal is systematically shattered. A home invasion thriller for the social media age.

Hitchcock's "anti-Bond" film, a deliberate attempt to show espionage as a "dirty business". It's a film of creative friction, from its miscast-but-iconic stars (Newman & Andrews) to the infamous firing of Bernard Herrmann.

Mockingbird (2014) is a grim, nihilistic exercise in manufactured paranoia that asks what you'd do when the lens is pointed at you and the game has no rules. Found footage adjacent.

Another Jarmusch classic... not your ordinary vampire joint. It's a deeply romantic, impossibly cool mood piece set against the backdrop of a beautifully decaying Detroit. Pure atmospheric cinema. #OctoberMovieChallenge #FilmSky #MovieSky #Vampires

The M.A.R.K. 13 is an all-time great movie monster. Pure, uncut technological horror with a soundtrack (Ministry, PiL) that still shreds. #OctoberMovieChallenge #Horror #CultFilms #MovieSky #FilmSky

From the mind of M. Night Shyamalan, this isn't just a monster movie; it's a vertical purgatory. The elevator becomes a high-rise confessional booth where sins are brought to light before judgment is served.

The atmosphere is suffocating, the rage is palpable, and the practical-effects violence is gleefully nasty.

In short, it’s a brutal, unforgiving piece of grindhouse cinema.

Commissioned as an educational film on elder abuse, it became one of his most harrowing works. No zombies here—just the relentless, surreal horror of aging in a world that has no place for you. #OctoberMovieChallenge #Horror #MovieSky #ElderAbuse #FilmSky

This is a masterwork of slow-burn suspense. It's anchored by a fiercely intelligent, self-possessed performance from a young Jodie Foster that feels decades beyond her years.

This 80's VHS darling has Maureen McCormick (Marsha Brady) playing a cop slowly, comedically unraveling. It's a little slasher, a little meta and totally campy, which we love.

Back in the 70's, we Jr. High kids could still manage to get in to see the 'R' slasher flicks. I saw Terror Train when it was in the theaters... and I was in 9th grade.

Villains (2019), is a piece of twisted domesticity. A film that asks: what happens when two quirky, love-drunk criminals break into a house owned by two far more terrifying, seasoned ones?

While the script leans on familiar tropes, the film is a perfect time capsule of our anxieties before the algorithm truly took over. This one is a quiet study in supernatural code.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark: Guided by Guillermo del Toro's creature-feature heart, it's a masterclass in #TechnicalCraft, bringing Gammell's ink-blot horrors to life with a chilling practicality.

She was Kay Adams, in The Godfather. She was Sonja, debating philosophy with death and desire in Love and Death. She was Louise Bryant, a revolutionary spirit in a world of men in Reds, she was Annie Hall. La-dee-da.

Blood Red Beach, a crowdfunded pirate slasher from Mad Angel Films that proves indie horror is alive & well. They're even releasing it on VHS. We'd love to see it.

I saw this film when I was 9 years old, way back when it was released. It has, in my ways, been a guiding factor in my life, and I do right now, in fact, live out in the middle-of-nowhere.
It may have alienated some fans, but I personally think this is Rob Zombie's most well-made film. Oh, and there's Patricia Quinn! :)
