Here's a clip from a fantasy story I wrote last week. The Writers in this world compose (direct) the lives of other people, and live separately from the citizens.

"People say, Writers don't pursue Love - but surely you must fall in love with other Writers?" he asked. I told him, we did not.
It was part of our training as Writers, learning how to focus our minds on essential things.
Familial attachment was not essential for our role, and romance was a hindrance. I told the young
man, our commitment to our vocation as Writers precluded other attachments.
"Don't take this the wrong way," he said, "but you can't possibly know that."

The students had grown accustomed to late nights and early mornings during marching season. On the morning of state competition they were ready, instruments loaded into the eighteen wheeler that would accompany the school bus.
At their destination, the eighteen wheeler arrived a few minutes early, and the driver was directed to return to the designated spot, after driving around the block. The instructions sounded simple; but, the students waiting on their bus began to hear unexpected news, trickling in through the phones of their chaperones.

We had scheduled to arrive early Friday afternoon.
The group that gathered together represented a mix of suburban city dwellers and meditative types. It crossed my mind, we could have chosen to stay at home and meditate in our own space; but, we had gathered here instead, to spend the weekend in silence with a group of strangers.
Meena's enthusiasm remained undimmed. She had talked nonstop during the drive, telling me the benefits I should expect.

I need to look for places where I can take my coffee from home and also #write. Funds are limited for buying expensive coffee at coffee shops. Outdoors is good in theory, but often hot/ cold/ windy where I live. I might have to try that anyway, it's hard to escape purchasing things otherwise!
