It includes the creation of rain gardens and extensive tree and vegetation planting at Tillicum Elementary School and on the road right of way around Albina St, Maddock Ave & Orillia St.

The work is supported by a $396,865 grant from the Province’s Disaster Risk Reduction-Climate Adaptation
Yesterday, I got to help plant trees & plants with students at Tillicum Elementary

SD61 & Saanich partnered on the Tillicum Green Infrastructure Project to mitigate growing climate change impacts, integrate Indigenous knowledge of natural systems, Indigenous plant species, & sustainable practices
Finally some relief for people renting in our community

Efforts we’re making to increase available rental homes, priority for non-market rental, & easing student demand help bring prices down

There’s more work to do to make homes more affordable for renters. We’re headed in the right direction.
I am so grateful to the staff and volunteers at Our Place for their extraordinary service and dedication to supporting the most vulnerable in our community.

Special thanks to Olivier Laurin for snapping a photo of me and Maggie, baristas for an hour.
Yesterday, I had the chance to help serve the Thanksgiving holiday meal at Our Place

I always jump at the chance to help serve a warm meal (and hot coffee, in my case this time).
The plan doesn’t rezone your property. It envisions a future use. Any change to the use still requires a rezoning. Your assessed value is based on the use prescribed by the current zone not potential use.
It’s your future! Get involved!

We gathered today at the BC Law Enforcement Memorial in honour of the police and peace officers whose lives were lost in the line of duty.
A highlight for me was meeting with Transportation Minister Mike Farnworth, who congratulated our region for creating a regional transportation service. The new service lets us speak with one voice about our transportation priorities. To use the Minister’s own words, “that’s how we get things done!”
That’s a wrap on this year’s 2025 Union of BC Municipalities conference

Your Saanich team and local leaders from across the Province spent the week here in Victoria, advocating to the provincial government for support to deliver the services our residents rely on and keep people safe.
That means creating a range of housing options like duplexes, triplexes, townhouses, apartments, condos, and more single-family homes so everybody can find a home that meets their needs and their budget in Saanich.

That doesn’t mean taking away homes or qualify of life from those who built a life here and raised a family.

It means protecting and enhancing the things that we love in our neighbourhoods, while giving more individuals and families the chance to put down roots here.
QMP is about making sure that Saanich is a place for everyone.

We’re planning for more homes that meet the diverse budgets and needs of residents in our community.
Saanich is blessed with more than 170 parks, including Maynard Park. Upgrading our playgrounds and other public amenities is just one of the ways the District is bringing people together and strengthening community connections.
We had so much fun celebrating the grand opening of the Maynard Park playground.

This new playground offers more modern, sustainable and accessible features for kids and families to enjoy.
A wonderful gathering of friends and neighbours at Horner Park.

Thank you to the Mt. Tolmie Community Association for bringing people together on this beautiful day.
Transparency and accountability are at the core of good governance. A provincial registry for municipal lobbying would give people across B.C. confidence that decisions at their city halls are being made in the public interest, not behind closed doors.
We’re standing with municipal colleagues across the province, calling on the Province to create a province-wide lobbyist registry for local governments.
It’s your future! Time to have your say!

More homes, better transportation options, new services and amenities.

QMP is a plan for everyone.
