Congress will claw back $1.1B from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. VPM, which is a PBS and NPR affiliate, will lose more than $2.5M over the next two years in lost funds. VPM President Jayme Swain says the cuts could result in the loss of Central Virginia local programming.

A spokesperson for VPM Media Corp. told VPM News that VPM had received $75,000 for the federal fiscal year running from Oct. 1, 2024–Sept. 30, 2025, but it was not yet clear how much of that money was still left to spend as of Friday, May 2 — the effective termination date of the grant.

The boil water advisory has been lifted in the Greater Richmond area, also including the counties of Hanover, Henrico and Goochland, which have been under boil water advisories this week.

Beato Ortiz Hernández was born with the tortilla. As a kid in the Mexican state of Guerrero, they were never missing from a meal.

But tortillerias were hard to find when he immigrated to Richmond in 2000. So he made his own.
