He struggles to meet Hannum in the middle-- he stands on his own tail, offering up a lit match. While Hannum seems unconcerned with anything, Ratzy looks at the viewer with his singular eye with a mix of shame and frustration, none of which is directed to his friend. Grime and smoke swirls behind them, Hannum's hair disheveled under his hat, betraying both Hannum's poise as well as an elegant boarder that frames them both. The deep black hues of their designs are impacted by the smoke, revealing color.
