New 🎥 from me:

Lately, I’ve noticed companies smashing onto every new feature they claim is “AI-powered”. I set out to find out why this is happening, and wound up in Japan

How AI Stole the ✨ Sparkles ✨ Emoji
Lately, I’ve noticed companies smashing ✨ onto every new feature they claim is “AI-powered”.This annoys me, because the ✨ emoji is my favorite emoji, and I d...

Aware Google did this with Buzz, which failed by trying to growth hack on Gmail, but Google is very often 10 years too early to every good idea (see, Glass)
Instagram always touts how many DMs are sharing reels. I don't see why YouTube should be different. I'm more interested in consuming something a friend recommends vs a platform. We are social beings who want to feel understood, and consuming the same content is one way to do that
follow, not algorithmic. If YouTube wants to keep people on their platform (and to be fair they already do with well with their recommendation system), a friends recommendation social system seems obvious to me.
because they want you to stay on their site, it doesn't work well.

Plus, There are things I'd share on a YouTube rec network I probably wouldn't post to other socials - live music, niche interests, etc.

Would work best like old Twitter, where you can follow anyone but your feed is only people you
I know Google is scared of doing anything remotely social anymore, but I feel like there is a real opportunity for YouTube as a social video recommendation / sharing network with friends.

There are so many videos I would love to share/recommend but because other platforms suppress links
New from me: Leica made an M camera without a rangefinder. I analyzed why they might have done this, and did some trigonometry.

Crucially though, the government shutdown has prevented the FCC from certifying it for sale in the U.S., so a launch date here is uncertain.

Testing Atlas just confirms to me that I STILL don’t want to move on from Arc
So many product launches today, but this is the one I’m most excited for
These are all film lol
I'll probably wait for the international version launch!
Hasselblad Flextight 646 virtual drum scanner
That happens with longer lenses 😅 In this case I was shooting with a 90mm. It compresses the background to look closer. So I mean, they are massive, but they'll look bigger than a wide-angle lens.
Haha, not this time 😅
Have only scanned a little bit of my film from France so far, but I'm amped on these already.
Some iPhone, some Leica M11
Well the 2nd photo is just the raw data from the sensor without Apple's processing
Thanks! Just dropped off 20 rolls of film, so that'll be quite a project to scan this week.
iPhone 17 Pro standard camera processing vs RAW out of a third party app. I'm just saying, if this is what the sensor is getting, standard processing can be SO. MUCH. BETTER.

Going to have to make a follow-up video to my Renaissance video.
So Process Zero is the true RAW DNG setting. If you're going to edit, I'd use that. ProRaw adds some computational processing that I don't like, and Apple Processed is basically the same as the standard camera app, but with the extra focus controls etc.
Audio quality is definitely better too, probably due to more airflow, angle etc. I’ve had the lightning pros for years and will still wait for these to give way, but I suppose I won’t mourn the day when I accidentally leave them on a plane 😅
The biggest change to AirPods Pro 3 this year for me has been ANC on the high end. AP2 struggles a bit in rooms with lots of voices, but AP3 can mostly totally cut those out. It’s pretty staggering.
If you’re willing to wait for reviews, I need to see how Air battery life ends up being in the real world
