To reject the US as a fundamentally American country with a deep shared history and commonality with the rest of the Americas, including that Spanish has long been our de facto national second language, is on a deep level anti-American. It's hating actual American culture and history and tradition.

From @nytimes.com Book of Euphemisms and Sane-washing:
- "Trumpian spin" mean white supremacism and racism, where there are no Loyalists, no Indians, and enslaved African Americans were well-treated and invisible.

From the @nytimes.com Book of Euphemisms and Sane-washing:
- "At odds with the Constitution" means blatantly unconstitutional and flagrantly illegal.
- "Raises alarms" means an Vesuvius-level catastrophic-impact bulletin.

Another item for the @nytimes.com both-sides file. The headline is a shoulder-shrug, "Who can you trust?" In the actual article, all the examples of AI fakery are from the right. www.nytimes.com/2026/02/03/t...

Melania, Friday night, 6 February, 8:15 PM, Times Square, New York City. Not a single seat sold. They couldn't pull off the fake attendance past the opening weekend.

From the headline I would have expected more than just long, unchallenged quotations from Trump. Another classic in the annals of stenography.

I assume the "framework of a Greenland (or Iceland) deal" that Trump accepted is that they swapped in another toy and the toddler president is now distracted by that.

There should be three rules in journalism today. Rule 1: Every story about the US government should state clearly that the Constitution is not functioning, and that the US is now an authoritarian state. /1

My unified theory: Trump learned from Putin to suck natural resources from the earth to enrich himself. What‘s in Venezuela? Oil. What’s in eastern Ukraine? Minerals. Where is more wealth buried? Under the ice in Greenland and Siberia. How do they get it out? Speed up global warming.

"Republicans spent a year eroding the Constitution to promoting one-man authoritarian national socialism and suffered severe by-election losses. Have the learned any lessons?" Why does the legacy media only ever have "lessons" for Democrats?

Democrats spent a year at rock bottom. Have they learned any lessons?
It’s been a long year of arguments, wisdom-mongering and profanity for the professional left and its allies.
