Really appreciated this take on the Middleton hit on Duchene.

A brief dive into who Glen Gulutzan chooses to be his champion when it comes to setting the tone for the 2025-2026 Dallas Stars (and why the obvious candidate may not be the best; but also why they could be). www.dmagazine.com/sports/2025/...
Glen Gulutzan Is Looking For Tone Setters. Here Are the Early Candidates.
A new style of play goes as far as the players who help implement it. A few names stand out in the early going.

I'd submit that the Stars' results so far, even in Central play, matter a lot less than setting the right tone early in the Gulutzan era.

With that in mind, here are some very wise words from
@davidcastillo.bsky.social on the players doing just that:

Still thinking about Dallas' PK looking like the Hamburger Helper mascot through one game.

Postgame quicktake: Jake Oettinger.

Not a whole lot going on other than Dallas' zone exits have been ugly, and Colorado is punishing them with possession but not goals.

Stranges Hour ties it. With an absolute bullet.

I didn't think Matthew Seminoff had a move like that in him. Fantastic work on that second goal.

Arttu Hyry scores the first Texas Stars of the season. Great feed from Antonio Stranges. But the real star of this play was the pinch and sacrifice by Vladislav Kolyachonok.

It's only been a few shifts, but Emil Hemming looks way more comfortable in the AHL than the CHL, as odd as that sounds (granted; not as odd with respect to typical development, but still).

Big night for Dallas Stars prospect hockey with Cameron Schmidt, Emil Hemming, Tristan Bertucci, Angus MacDonell, and Niilopekka Muhonen all in action.

Postgame quicktake: terrible look for the Dallas Stars. Good win. The recipe for nearly blowing a four-goal lead is less repeatable than the recipe for lots of quality even-strength offense. Gulutzan won't be happy, as he shouldn't, but that's still a win over a divisional opp.

Thomas Harley with some sick bladework.

Great goal by Nils Lundkvist that doesn't happen without Mikko Rantanen nonchalantly stiffarming a forechecker.

Imagining a beautiful future where every coach knew who their best six defenders were.
