The city of Sanliurfa located in #Turkey, also known as #Urfa is believed by many to be the place where #Abraham was born. Urfa even sounds like #Ur, the city the #Bible records as the place that Abraham came from. Last week we fed the fish at #Balikligol, Abraham's pond. Full post peace website.

Do you worship #success, #power, #money, #fame, a #stockportfolio, the opinions of others, #Beautycare, #clothing, entertainment, sport, political advancement, #cosmetics, #health, the #gym, or the #environment . These are things that people love and can take the place of God in our hearts.

Sometimes #Christians are accused of making up nonsense about God, but having a #God that doesn’t make sense is how you would expect it to be. If we could understand God, then He wouldn’t be much of a God right? And nobody makes up something you can't understand.

The disciples asked Jesus ‘how many times should I forgive?’ They suggested a generous answer to their own question… ‘seven times?’ Matthew 18:21

But Jesus replied, 'seventy times seven.'

That's 490 times.

490 implies perfect forgiveness. It means no counting.

Does God punish with #Hell if people disobey?

A 1971 #Disney #movie illustrates the opposite point. If the boy didn't trust, he would have plummeted to his death.

'For God so loved the world, he sent his one and only son, that whoever trusts in Him, will not perish but have #Eternal #life.'

#Jesus had a good reason for clearing the #temple.

Sometimes people raise an objection to God’s #fairness.

What about those people in the #Congo jungle who never heard the #gospel? Surely God isn’t going to send them to #Hell when they never had the chance to know about Jesus?

God has this tendency to start with a obvious physical practical thing, like #circumcision, or the #sabbath, and turn it into a living metaphor for a greater #spiritual reality.

In Hebrews 4 we find that trusting in #Jesus is what it means to enter into sabbath. #Faith is true rest.

Why did we need the #NewTestament? We often think that if something comes along after something else, the first thing must have been insufficient. But sometimes things must come in a certain order so the last thing actually makes sense.

Its valuable to consider how ignoring difficult conversations affects #relationships here and now, and then we can see why its important to keep up to date with #God. Its crucial for our walk with him because it affects how we feel about God. We should always #confess. #confession is good for us.

Should you re-read the #Bible

Other books have diminishing returns when read more than once, but the Bible has augmenting value. What you learn by reading sets you up to understand more when you read it again and again.

Besides Jesus who was the greatest person?

Time said Napoleon. BBC had Picasso. Others said Muhammed, Martin Luther King, Newton, DaVinci, or Darwin.

But Jesus himself said it was John the Baptist.

The key to greatness is to prepare the way for Christ in the hearts of others like John did.

A #church is not a building, and is not an organisation, and is also not a weekly meeting. A church is the people.

But, not any group of people it is all of the #believers. So it reminds us to love other believers even with their differences in practice and #doctrine. We belong to each other.
