It hasn't all gone to plan for the Japanese but they've managed to get a first wave ashore on the smaller island. Can it get a foothold though?

Got going on this finally! Early air strikes have mixed success, the Japanese with the element of surprise getting the upper hand. Defensive coastal batteries get a few shots in before being silenced.
