And some for our gardens so she would always have a home that she never had during her long life.

Memorials are for the living.

She trusted us to do the appropriate things when she was no longer with us. She gave us an adventure that she would have done in life if she had the means. So it goes.

Ultimately, we joined her with our Father in his VA grave.

In theory, someone could have planted a tree for my Mom, based on the memorial page the funeral home maintains. Nothing there last time I checked. We did things in our own fashion,though, returning her to the homeland she left, and spreading her throughout the land and sea...

Planted a tree* in memory of a friend's mother who made it just shy of a century. I guess it's nicer than the abundance of flowers that showed up, but I've never heard of anyone being notified about what specific tree it is.

*Well, paid a company that says they plant a tree for you.

Er... you get a couple of years *trying* to make a profit doing something and can deduct the losses, but eventually they tell you to just stop... it's an expensive hobby and you're not blessed with magic accountants.

I won a half dozen brand new Runequest books from Chaosium at a convention raffle a few weeks ago. Sort of feel obligated to *finally* see what people have been talking about for decades! 🤓

These are awesome! Sometimes folks just need a little Nudge to become more involved, and the momentum grows! Every protest I go to I bring extras of the signs I've printed up and I walk through the crowds handing them out to people who aren't holding anything. It let's them know "we want you here!"

And if we can get folks to come out for a few hours on a Saturday and see their community standing up, we can Invite them into the monthly/weekly/daily activities that chip away at this Administration.

*You* control the messaging in your neighborhood. Make the new normal be all the local residents keeping eyes out for any fascist behavior and swarm them with attention. Of course there are other concrete things to do every day, but a nationwide coordinated action keeps The People motivated!

Yes, the main tourist season is gorgeous, but you avoid almost *all* tourism (e. g. no Cruise ships stopping and dumping 1,000s of people) if you go on the "shoulders" (the months before and after the main season.
And it's much cheaper. 😉
