When you open up your picnic-table umbrella after a week and accidentally dislodge a surprise tenant. In her own time she flew off, presumably for a darker, cozier spot.

As I get ready for our upcoming Studio Tour, I'm looking through some older prints and reflecting on my printmaking practice. I made "Woods of the Lake" to work out how to create mist and a water reflection in a print.

Grabbed my spitsticker and my scorper - engraving tools have the best names - and refined my bufflehead block. It printed up quite nicely on a variety of papers.

Can't decide if the inside image should be a giant flower or something unrelated like an iPad. Funny how the mind must make connections, like "taking nature breaks from screens." The mind is a funny thing. And that, my friends, is your profound thought for the day. Now back to staring at my naval.
