I feel like you're arguing a position I'm not opposing. I'm not saying it's bad to have a violent revolution; I'm saying, to that end, the degree to which it's helpful that everyone has guns ahead of time seems minimal, especially weighed against... y'know, all the apolitical murder in the meantime.

An armed populace can prevent a genocide by an unarmed aggrssor, but if everyone is armws the same, history is on the side of people who want to do murder.
I'm no historian, but the Wikipedia article on the Rwandan genocide doesn't mention guns, only machetes, which I'm pretty sure both sides had.
