This is what I mean when I say that present-day covid denialism is right wing. It was a plan born of corporatists and wholly adopted by centrists and even leftists eager to pretend the pandemic was over, which should immediately give anyone thinking about it pause.
Remember how just a few years ago during the worst of the pandemic when we saw how the govt can actually do big things and saw that our collective health & well-being are intertwined, and then corporations got mad that they lost a modicum of power and helped fund a backlash of amnesia and fascism?

Toronto friends! The film is still TBD but please put Nov 25 on your calendar for the next Masked at the Movies! 🥰
Hey, if you’re attending #TIFF50 next week, please consider wearing a high quality mask (like a KN95). I don’t want to get sick and I don’t want you to get sick! Let’s keep each other safe from airborne illness this year. Cool? COOL! I promise you no one will care. Always happy to give mask recs! 😷
Using my friend’s Jewish name when she is an outspoken anti-Zionist who has been marching for 20 months is really something else.
I wasn’t going to say anything else beyond my original reply about the event last night but conflating this with what’s happening in Palestine is so out of pocket. Unbelievable.
Our event started at 6pm. When I arrived at 6pm on the dot, they had the surgical mask on. But yes, a surgical still poses risks and I will mention that next time.
Yes, for attendees and it’s enforced with free respirators available. This was a venue employee. Next time I will be more clear that folks may encounter surgicals on employees so they can make a more informed decision about attending or not.
It is respirator-required and enforced for attendees, with free masks available. The person in a surgical was an employee of the venue. Doing my best here! Next time I will inform folks they might encounter surgicals on venue employees so they can make a more informed decision about attending or not
The person was an employee at the venue. I’m sorry they said that to you. Ultimately, it’s only respirator-mandatory for attendees as it’s a public space - and all attendees were in respirators the entire time. Going forward, I will be clear that folks may encounter unmasked ppl/surgicals inside.

It is consistently wild to see this rash of pieces on Covid that are all about its origin and its politics, by people continuing to steadfastly ignore that it’s still here, it’s still killing people, there’s a rising mass of disabled people from it, and that all of that is preventable.

Writing on the back of this photo from my collection says “General Nuisance. Summer 1954”.
being covid-aware and keeping myself safe has me so worn down y’all like I feel like I’m moving through cement to do literally anything 😭 it’s so tempting to just give up (I won’t) but holy hell this gets harder by the day! sending resolve and strength to everyone 💕

let’s face it — if wearing a mask was the socially acceptable norm, you’d be doing it. Doesn’t that give you pause even for a second? If I’m wildly off base please tell me but aside from denial, social pressure seems to be the culprit here!
dude please just wear a mask… giving into social pressure is soooooo embarrassing for you!
