Details including salary with George Russell's new Mercedes F1 deal understood to be a multi-year agreement, making him the third-highest paid star on the grid behind only Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton. A just reward for his outstanding form this season ✍
Mercedes hint at George Russell long-term plan as details of new F1 deal emerge
George Russell and Kimi Antonelli have now signed Mercedes contracts for the 2026 Formula 1 season, and the Brit's deal gives him an extra layer of protection against being replaced by Max Verstappen

Further to this, it’s understood George Russell’s new contract is a multi-year deal. Kimi Antonelli’s situation is harder to define, given his relationship with Mercedes and the options they have on him are slightly different.

So that’s George Russell and Kimi Antonelli (finally) confirmed by Mercedes for 2026.

Interestingly, nowhere in any of Mercedes’ comms on this does it specify anything about either of their futures beyond next year.

Nothing yet on that front. Remains to be seen whether anyone will bother

Tim Mayer will hold a press conference in Austin on Friday, regarding “the future of the FIA Forward Presidential campaign”. Comes after it emerged no-one will be able to make it onto the ballot other than incumbent Mohammed ben Sulayem. Could be an interesting one…

Mercedes F1 bosses are entirely unperturbed by the difficulties Kimi Antonelli has endured at times this year, and remain convinced of his massive potential 🌟

Kimi Antonelli has endured a rocky first season in Formula 1, since being handed the keys to Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes, but it was always likely to be this way for the teenager

When Miss Villars announced her candidacy, submissions for the WMSC were open so there was no reason to suspect at that time there was would only be one South American candidate, or that this eventuality was going to arise.

I can’t speak for Miss Villars as to whether or not she ‘did her homework’.

Presidential candidates must, by October 24, submit a list of WMSC nominees, including a vice-president for sport in South America. But Fabiana Ecclestone of Brazil is the only person eligible and she is on Ben Sulayem's list. Anyone who cannot submit a full list will not be on the ballot paper.

FIA presidential hopeful Laura Villars has told Mirror Sport she has "legitimate concerns of conformity with the FIA statutes", regarding December's election, with incumbent Mohammed ben Sulayem seemingly set to run unopposed because of a technical reality in the process.
FIA presidential candidate considers legal action over election 'concerns'
FIA presidential elections take place in December with three other candidates, Tim Mayer, Laura Villars and Virginie Philippot, having announced campaigns against incumbent Mohammed ben Sulayem

Turns out it was only the one day away 👀

The 25th edition of my free weekly F1 newsletter was sent out today, and at the current rate it’s days away from picking up its 1,000th subscriber (!). Huge thanks to everyone who has supported it so far. I don’t many any money from it, it’s just something different to my day job to keep me sane!

Thanks very much! Very kind of you to say

I think it’s one of those where there was no completely fair decision and giving Lewis five seconds to drop him behind Fernando is the ‘least wrong’ option!
danielmoxon.bsky.social
I personally think it’s a little harsh on Hamilton considering the brakes issue was out of his control, but at the same time it would have been harsh on Alonso not to give the penalty because he only finished ahead of the Aston by cutting those corners. All things considered, prob the right outcome
danielmoxon.bsky.social
Sure – stewards said they had consulted the list of exemptions in the driving standards guidelines for multiple track limits violations and a brakes failure is not one of the “foreseen” scenarios. That’s why they decided in this case that it wasn’t a “justifiable reason” for going off track so much
danielmoxon.bsky.social
Five second time penalty confirmed for Lewis Hamilton, for "leaving the track without a justifiable reason, multiple times" in the final stint of the race with brake issues. Drops him below Fernando Alonso, who went on a furious rant about Hamilton over the radio when he crossed the finish line.
Lewis Hamilton hit by post-race penalty as Singapore Grand Prix result changes
A late brakes issue for Lewis Hamilton saw him drop a long way back from Ferrari team-mate Charles Leclerc and also caused several track limits violations for which the Brit has been punished

No penalty! The stewards have explained that "a greater reduction of speed would have been desirable", but found Hamilton "remained above the required minimum time" between the start of the red flags and when he entered the pit lane, and did not drive in an unsafe manner.

Lewis Hamilton being investigated for a red flag infringement during FP3 in Singapore. According to the penalty guidelines for F1 stewards, "failing to slow for red flags or lights on the track" in a practice session would lead to a 10-place grid penalty, if Hamilton is found guilty.

No penalty for Charles Leclerc for that pit lane crash with Lando Norris in FP2. Just a fine for Ferrari and a very sheepish Italian mechanic who told him to leave the garage when he did…
