If you're an employer or work for an employer and you're about to write a job advert in first person, stop.

It's easily the biggest pet peeve I have for job adverts. It's unnecessarily unclear, patronising and dumb.

Don't tell me what some fictional employee thinks - tell me what the job is.

Just finished "The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet" - I was very sceptical about a book that's a little outside my usual sci-fi pick, but it was a nice comforting found family adventure between more action-dense books. Recommended if you want a cosy low intensity read with lots of feels.

Are you really doing an admin job if you don't spend 20 minutes making your spreadsheet do fancy colours?

After many recommendations I've been reading The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet and it's unlike any sci-fi I've ever read before. So far (and no spoilers, obviously) It's a fairly cosy slice-of-life affair which is a nice break from the cyberpunk books I have been reading.

Thinking 'bout Nemik's Manifesto for no real reason:

The [fascist] need for control is so desperate because it is so unnatural. Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear.

Me, rummaging around in my many boxes of ornaments and trinkets: Oh, y'know, I'm a tchotchkeist.

It's 5:52am. I had meant to read one chapter of @emilytesh.net's Some Desperate Glory before getting to bed before midnight.

Whew. What an absolute page turner. I had mistakenly thought this would be a fairly straightforward sci-fi affair, very glad to be wrong. Will be foisting it on friends asap.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is hella fun, shorter run times cuz it's a kids show, but otherwise I'm excited for the rest of it. Proper goonies style 80's adventure.

Bluesky so far reminds me of those fake social medias you get in some games where all the posts seem really nice and twee but there's some occasional rando in the comments being tamely awful to make it seem more real.

Kicking off my Bluesky shitposting (which is going to be wildly inconsistent) by saying that I really like parts of the character generation for Daggerheart TTRPG system, but I feel like it's trying to be both a rules light RP system and a number crunchy stats system and it doesn't quite work.

No, you decided to ignore your growing pile of "to play" and "to read" and play through the entire Life is Strange games in one go to see if there are any through threads or hidden plotlines.

I have no idea what I'm doing here but everyone already seems way nicer than on twitter.
