Yes, I am happy that regardless of the literal insanity we had to endure, the game came out great! Despite terrible leadership, we got there in the end.
The decision maker prioritised things based on personal taste and ignored feedback and advice from actual artists.
I had chilled out about this but learning that the pumpkin cosmetic didn't make it but some trash donut pants did has absolutely tilted me.
Oh is my post unprofessional? It's nothing compared to how some people on the project conducted themselves (and ofc they weren't laid off). Disgusting.
If only actual artists got to decide what cosmetics went in, rather than a power-mad producer who thinks he's a designer
Have a pumpkin spice latte today in the memory of the Pumpkin Spice Laylee that never made it into Yooka-Replaylee 🙁☕️
A mock-up of what a Yooka-Laylee Halloween cosmetic could look like. Yooka is dressed up as a skeleton with shiny green eyes whilst Laylee's look is inspired by pumpkin spice.

It's 3am where I am and I'm pottering around organising books and lighting candles

lets say a wizard has cursed you with a lot of money. you are going to become permanently brain damaged simply by being in possession of so much money. the only way out of it is to spend a lot of money on something ridiculous and not at all useful

what would you buy to break the curse?
Telling myself I won't crack and buy the new Pokémon game knowing fine well I will

The way Rextro grips onto something and then transitions into a little hop was always important to me. At first you had to manually input that hop and you had directional control, but I steered the design in the auto-flip-no-directional-control direction to reduce friction
The one where you are travelling through the levels via moving platforms - originally I had a wall of lava chasing the player hahaha, and the design was a lot more fast paced and frantic. But I was encouraged to tone it down cause it was too "evil" hehe
The level where you have to avoid spiky balls - that design came from this idea I had of Rextro infiltrating a robot factory, with the spiky enemies being patrollers. Wanted to create a sense of stealth, but as you can see it evolved, though I can still see that original identity :)
Thank you, that's right :)

I did a mix of level and gameplay design and prototyped a lot of the props you interact with :)
I remeber you saying you worked on the rextro ar arcade game. You did a wonderful job its so fun.
Please do observe how beautiful my Vendula London handbag is
