Hi everyone and welcome to dailyfish. ‘Daily’ isn’t quite true, the nature of my life will not allow me to draw fish everyday. I feel qualified on the fish part of things though! I’ve been working and studying in aquaculture since 2019, so I think I know a thing or two about fish.

Sea gooseberries (Pleurobrachia pileus) is a species of comb jelly often found in the open water of the North Atlantic, the North Sea, the Black Sea and the Baltic Sea. They have a pair of tentacles that can be retracted into their body. They can reach the size of a large grape.

The very first fish of the day is the Sockeye Salmon (Oncorhynchus nerka). They are found in the Northern Pacific Ocean, and rivers that feed into it. This depicts a spawning male, shown by the humped back & hooked jaw (kype). They are semelparous, meaning they die after spawning.
