Cutthroat Island is one for sure. I played all the way through it just to prove that I could…and then again on a different platform (Genesis, followed by SNES). Miserable, evil little game.

I’d definitely recommend giving Frontier a try, especially if you want animation that’s nearly on par with Plus (only over 24 episodes rather than just 4!).

Zero (short and self-contained) is minorly-recommended viewing beforehand. You can skip 7 and not feel guilty about it in the slightest.

Yeah, I weirdly just had a friend echo the same sentiment about S2. I guess I should revisit the earlier ones to compare.

There might also be some recency bias at work since I went from Macross 7 to Frontier this year, and that’s some whiplash right there (in the right direction!).

I have a fond memory of a Japanese friend of mine introducing me to this game around 99, emphasizing above all else that I should play it because it was developed by Westone. Cool to see it’s coming back.

(Side bar: This also made me realize that Hana was picking out the bits of the *old* food she didn’t like and tossing them outside the bowl (since she’s no longer doing this). I just assumed she was a sloppy eater!)

(4/5) But I finally found the solution in this miracle potion below. Basically dried salmon and tapioca. But all it takes is one dash, and they’re eating like horses! (And when I say “one dash”, I mean that this bottle will probably last us a year.)

Anyway, no ill effects and everyone is eating….

Salmon-flavored Sassycat, available in pet stores and on Amazon. Not trying to shill for them especially (nothing in it for me), just noting that it works for us!
