RSTR CMY Pet Plot Detail

Mona up close... #petplot #machinearts #bantamtools #axidraw #rstr #cmy #deatramentis #octopusfluids #rotring #mona #kooiker
The pet in the image is our kooikerhondje that goes by the name Mona. In case you're wondering, she's the best dog.
I have to thank the community over at the Bantam Tools Discord for their advice on pen sizes and inks to work out the kinks in my process. And while I'm at it, I'd like thank @muffinman_io for printing me the awesome tall ink tubes aka tall bois.
The pet plot challenge by @bantamtools was the perfect opportunity to take new CMY (WIP) version of [RSTR](rstr.d17e.dev) for a spin.

#virtualCCFest is back on Sunday, Sept 28, with amazing keynotes and workshops on creative coding lined-up. You can see and details and RSVP at ccfest.rocks. If you donate your funds will go to support the costs of the free event, Zoom licenses and small stipends for presenters and keynotes.
And one of these days

It's gonna plot all over you.

Hatched Tetrominoes

Of course we can't have RSTR2.0 (wip) without hatchings....

This time around though, I wanted to experiment with creating color through layering. In stead of me picking a color, colors could be created organically.

Or siliconally. I guess.
Tetrominofaced

If you've ever wondered what my face would look like in tetrominoes, this could be it.

What are tetrominoes? Well, they're Tetris (c) shapes. (see what they did there?! the (c) is for clever)

What 2 is to dominoes.
4 is to tetrominoes.
While we're at it. Again.

Let's revisit this RSTR classic, shall we?

The same very very early version of RSTR 2.0 as the previous post.

I say 2.0, while in fact, RSTR itself was the second iteration on an idea that started as a Genuary sketch prompt honoring the late and great Vera Molnar
2.0 in the making

That's right. RSTR 2.0 is in progress. This is the same render with similar settings.

It's very early days, but I wanted to share this moment either way. In this iteration I've obviously started over with a clean slate and have implemented a new way of finding neighbors for
From humble beginnings

This is how each frame of the stop motion animation (and the digital animation before it) was 'rendered'. Or let's say RSTR'd. Each frame starts from the same basic image and is then RSTR'd with different parameters that change over *time*

Don't worry I didn't do that
Note to self: plan ahead

When I plotted these I didn't spend much time thinking of how I'd actually produce the stop motion animation.

Turns out I made it pretty hard on myself.

I now have a long list of things I can improve on, though...
Come as you are

And here's the little stop motion loop coming straight out of the "Stop Motion Studio" app.

I tried a bunch of venues of producing this animation and settled for this niche app (7$ with free option) which does exactly what you'd think it does. And does it well.
Stop! Motion!

"Stop-motion" is a funny concept when you think of it.

Executing it properly is not obvious however.

Nothing a little glitch can't fix?

If you've been around for long enough, you might recall this animation I did a while back. This is the stop motion version pulled

RESOCTRL

RESOCTRL was supposed to get the spotlight before HYDRACTRL happened.

So here's a bit of a closer look at my Resolume clip selector & step sequencer: RESOCTRL.

Recording hickups

As you can probably tell, I haven't figured out how to record this stuff smoothly.

Seems like streaming is a lot less taxing on my machine...

Wondering what you're looking at? Go check out my blog, there's a fresh article on all of this and more. Just for you.
Everything under control

Don't worry, I know what I'm doing.

If you're wondering what on earth is going on, my latest blog post might shed some light.
