Time to talk about the history of assassinations in the USA and what they mean. I'm a historian of American violence, and can definitely state that much of how we interpret these crimes is wrong. We need to see the bigger picture. Here's my newest episode on that: youtu.be/8eVwx7BmeJw
Scholar of American Violence Discusses Assassinations and their Meaning
This video explores the history of political violence in the USA, specifically focusing on events that constitute a political assassination. Understanding the roots of these incidents requires an…

I don't remember. Adam Ruins Everything was always kinda crap, but at least fun. The animated show wasn't fun and leaned all the way into the crappiness

Join my father (Mark Hall-Patton) and I as we discuss the disparity between academic and public history, especially in regards to museums. Most historians are not academics, but the misconception that they are leads to many problems

Trump and his cronies are great at accusing their opponents of doing bad stuff that they didn't do and then proceeding to do the exact thing bad stuff they falsely accused their opponents of doing

Root of the problem, these depictions don't know what a museum is or how they function

Did he do something on museums? I watched the first episode of that show and noped TF out

There's gargantuan misconceptions about museums that need challenging. The most recent was the hilariously inept research John Oliver's team did on POTUS libraries, but Black Panther's disinfo is probably worse. What else would you like to see me debunk?

Most historians aren't academics. More scholars work for museums, media, etc. My father is perfect example of this, being a famous non-academic historian. On Sunday 1pm PST, join our live discussion of public history's larger scope at youtube.com/live/gG66zUd...

I once quoted that song just before leaving a job interview that turned out to be management for a crappy MLM (CutCo) that wanted me to shave my beard off. You know which verse

Strange idea: make an AI bot trained on my episodes that spits out shorts and upload those to a unaffiliated account for a month just to see what happens

I'm gonna catch up on the news and then begin my weekly stream early, so that viewers can have a bit of purge party. Come laugh at the 40-ish imbeciles who exposed their own stupidity in the comments of my latest episode and then I'll play AC Odycessy on twitch.tv/cynicalhisto...

I'm working on a video about museums in Albuquerque and I'd like to make some kind of map overlay that people can access with a link in the description, pointing to all of the locations. Is there a way to do that?

I royally screwed up the spelling of "ingratiate" there, but ho boi did I not intend for that correction, especially since I am speaking of an entire ethnicity in that section (Hispanics). Google Docs' spellcheck keeps getting worse

Somebody said it's different now, look, it's just the same
Pharaohs spin the message 'round and 'round the truth
They could have saved a million people, how can I tell you?

If knowledge hangs around your neck like pearls instead of chains you are a lucky man

No. History proves otherwise. Furthermore, Trump as a reaction to Obama is not a pendulum swing. That would imply they're equally extreme, which they're definitely not

okay. once again, what are we to make of it?

What are we to make of all the antisemitic conspiracy theories (like cultural marxism, white genocide, globalism, & great replacement) when their core bigotry is obfuscated away? Some even claim to defend Jews from persecution while espousing these hateful lies. Seems paradoxical
