I heard the sound of my ROS 2 Jazzy robot WaLI (Wallfollower Looking for Intelligence) rotating in search of his dock to recharge.

"Head spinning" WaLI was trying to push my ROS 2 Kilted Kaiju robot Kilted Dave the dock.

Lesson learned: they still need me.

Right on. I keep telling the tinyllama model to only respond with one sentence, and found it cannot count - chatty little thing.

I did "RTFM" and found it says "LLMs cannot count or perform numerical computations without external assistance.

What is the difference between a LLM and the life changing iPhone? The iPhone exploded into our world as an immediately useful, immediately cost beneficial product.

The difference from the transistor? The transistor was a smaller, low cost form of an existing tech, the tube.

LLMs are neither.

How in the world could survive 35k hours of productive work without AI? Oh right, because it didn't need a LLM or NLU.

Don't know what version I had, but it was this Lionel loco. I had pellets to put in the stack to pump out white puffs of smoke as it scurried around and around my huge three rail track oval. (Huge by comparison to later HO scale layouts I invested in creating on a fold down 4x8 in my bedroom.)

Technology and safety aside, I do not foresee there ever being a positive benefit:cost ratio for humanoid robots in the home.

Indeed charming, but offensive screamer, offensive thief, with annoyingly whiney young following them around. I thank them when they alert to a cat, hawk, or owl, but one (offense) cancels ten (charms) most days.

My Robot Carl is 7 Years Old Today

August 22, 2018 #GoPiGo3 #Robot Carl was "born".

In his seven years, he has:
- been "awake" 93% (56,935 hours)
- traveled 3.9 km
- dock and undocked 5724 times
- turned around 6952 times
- burned through 12 sets of NiMH batteries
- spoken 34380 phrases

Robot Carl has an 8 inch single eyed Minion Carl character atop a differential drive (two driven wheels and a rear castor) GoPiGo3 robot platform. Carl is seen in front of his dock which has a sign with his name Carl which stands for "cute and real lovable".

After weeks "visiting Lusitania" (Speaker For The Dead, Xenocide, Children Of The Mind), I returned to "my world" by flying a pattern in "my LongEZ" at "my airport" in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. It felt good to only have my survival (landing) on my mind.

Self-Aware AI, and Self-Aware Robots probably have more to fear from other Self-Aware AI agents/robots than from humans. Hopefully, their access to recorded human history will encourage them to put alternatives to war and greed in their survival kits.

Found a bad WiFi bridge and power adapter- brought it down from S9, but still not able to hear all the 20m QRP POTA activators.

.. solve yet. The computational complexity needed is at least an order of magnitude beyond our current capabilities, with the demand growing exponentially, the capabilities only linear.
