Advocating for better urbanism in the Champaign-Urbana community. We support walkable, bikeable, accessible cities and affordable housing!
That's us! We're housing fans, and we're organized! (Well sort of organized. )
One of the biggest drivers of high housing costs is that a small, highly motivated group of incumbent homeowners block new housing in their neighborhoods and almost no one is organized to push back.

Young people bear the brunt of that imbalance.

Be a housing fan.

This is exactly why we formed CUrbanism! The people showing up at meetings tend to be older, whiter, richer, and more conservative than the broader community. It's easier to show up to push for positive change when you go with a group of like minded friends!
I really can't emphasize enough that if you care about local politics, all you gotta do is show up. Just a regular schmegular person showing up. Literally just show up consistently in person and within a remarkably short amount of time, you will have a shocking amount of influence.

Lately I've had multiple random conversations with people about how cool trains are, and that high-speed rail would be fantastic for us personally and for the economy. Business leaders in my city have been advocating for HSR for decades. It's baffling that we haven't just gotten this done!

This is amazing!!!
Just added Champaign Urbana!

This is based on a fairly loose interpretation of 'public transportation hub' that I will elaborate on in my notebook

It’s witness slip time! 🚨

Transit funding bill SB2111 has been assigned to committee and we need folks to file witness slips as PROPONENT immediately!

The attached graphic provides guidance for submitting a slip.
