I use deadlines to motivate myself to finish projects. Last July, I crammed 60+k words for the Epigram Book Prize.

I didn't get long listed but that's ok. Finishing a novel is a reward in itself.

As an atheist editor, I would occasionally run across Christian fic, and the text tends to explain their faith based realism. I don't see this in Buddhist or Muslim fic where things just happen. I wonder why.
