When we show up, we win! In our last contract, #CCPUCalifornia won a life-saving victory: health care benefits. "For the first time, I could cover my out‑of‑pocket medical costs and focus on healing instead of juggling bills," says union sister Pamela Rocha.

Our hearts are broken for union sister Patricia 💔 who is closing her child care because she can't afford to keep it open AND take care of her health. When providers close, kids and families fall through the cracks.

No more empty promises @GavinNewsom 🙅❌ your administration has failed to deliver on your commitment to moving to the #truecostofcare and we don't have a next bargaining date for 2 more weeks!

Child care shouldn’t cost more than college. Or pay less than minimum wage.

Families can’t afford it. Centers are struggling to stay open. Early childhood educators deserve better.
ECHOES - CSCCE's online history project compiles those pivotal policy debates, revealing the tight links among race, class, and gender that shaped every compromise.
Economic insecurity in ECE is a policy choice, not an inevitability. It’s time to invest in direct public funding, set compensation standards, & adopt system-level workplace protections that close racial wage gaps & truly uplift our workforce.

As a country, we cannot afford to undermine the scarce, precious pool of early educators, including the great numbers of immigrant women who contribute to its strength.

Child care is in crisis!🚨Providers like Patricia Moran are being forced to close their doors due to low pay from the state, ripping essential, affordable child care from families.
3/3. These cuts threaten not only children and families but also the educators who nurture our children daily. We must raise our voices to protect families and the workforce that sustain early childhood education. cscce.berkeley.edu/workforce-in...
