Neto is projected for a $4.1M salary in his Super 2 arbitration year. Wonder if CAA is there to win an arb hearing against the Angels or negotiate an extension (or a trade to a team that will give him one)
@JonHeyman tweeted
Angels star Zach Neto has hired @CAABaseball to represent him
Never coached outside of college is what I meant, but he also didn't play minor league baseball either. Was an infielder at Missouri from 2000-2002 and then went sraight into coaching
I'm really not sure. The appearance here is that this is a Buster Posey thing - they've met before and share similar ideas, so I don't know if this will become widespread but there may be a little more consideration of college coaches if it works
Atlanta's down to three names in their managerial search. Here's what you need to know about Cubs bench coach Ryan Flaherty

The initial conversation we were having on the Vitello hire is we couldn't remember a single instance when a sitting college head coach jumped straight into a MLB manager role. Howser is the one example, albeit with the caveat of he has been exclusively a pro assistant before heading to college
Notice the "no pro baseball experience" caveat?

Dick Howser, namesake of a college baseball Heisman-equivalent, did go from college manager to pro manager, but only after being a pro assistant.

1969-78: Yankees 3B coach
1979: Florida State manager
1980-86: Yankees manager

San Francisco Giants to hire Tennessee head coach Tony Vitello as next manager: Sources
Vitello will be the 40th manager in franchise history and he has by far the most unique resume.

NEW POD: Let's talk about reasons the Braves may have signed veteran catcher Austin Nola, and then propose an offseason strategy that can both save money for pitchers and make the team better

NEWS: Mark Bowman of MLB.com just dropped a newsletter that reports that Atlanta's managerial decision is down to three names, all bench coaches:

George Lombard, Tigers
Danny Lehmann, Dodgers
Ryan Flaherty, Cubs
The Atlanta Braves signed a catcher yesterday. Why, and what could it tell us about the 2026 roster?

open.substack.com/pub/bravesto...
If this is true, this tells me either the Braves want to carry an extra catcher so they can use Baldwin as a DH or they're planning on Sean Murphy potentially not being available for Opening Day (or they're trading him, I guess, but that's unlikely)
NEWS: Per a report from Bob Nightengale, the Atlanta Braves have signed catcher Austin Nola to a minor league deal with an invite to spring training.

In true Bob fashion, the tweet said Austin "Nolan"
But of course, you can pay for A1-15

Bwtween things like that, the new luggage policies, and assigned seating, they've become the same as every other airline
There's a new candidate that's reportedly interested in Atlanta's open managerial role: Los Angeles Dodgers bench coach Danny Lehmann. Here's what you need to know about the former catcher:

Correction: first player in NL history with two grand slams in the same game
Want to Remember a Guy?

Way before Shohei Ohtani came on the scene, back on July 3rd, 1966, Braves pitcher Tony Cloninger threw a complete game against the San Francisco Giants AND hit two grand slams, totaling nine RBI on the game. He was the first player in MLB history with two grand slams in th
NEW POD: There are five or six teams that might make a STRONG push for Atlanta Braves shortstop Ha-Seong Kim if he makes it to free agency.

The Atlanta Braves didn't get much rotation help out of their farm system in 2025. Will the minor leagues have more to offer next year?

open.substack.com/pub/bravesto...
Thanks, man. We're going to be looking at every team and discussing if they might be in on HSK in free agency because things are so slow right now.

The Braves not providing updates on the managerial search makes this tough
As someone with a daily podcast and daily newsletter, I am also jonesing for *anything* to happen so I'm not trying to think of random topics to write about
Hi I need more Braves propaganda please kthx
Ken Rosenthal is reporting that the San Francisco Giants are closing in on a deal to hire University of Tennessee head baseball coach Tony Vitello as manager and that's going to be a DISASTER of epic proportions

There's no way his shtick works in the majors anywhere but maybe Philly
Here are some of the news and notes you may have missed from this week for the Atlanta Braves
