"Yeah, New Year, New Plan of stopping you!"
He turns back around.

"...What are you doing-a here? Quite early in the year to begin scheming-a."

He says, almost reading Mr. L's obvious mind.
"..."

He turns away.

"This must-a be Dimentio's doing again-a..."
//yes LOL. I was away with family for Christmas and New Years
"Hey-a, Lui-- Waaaait a minute..."
"Happy New Year, everyone!

Now... where's my Hot Chocolate at? It's-a chilly!"
"Merry Christmas-a!

Can you believe 2024 is almost-a over? That, and a certain new system is around the corner! When-a? I can't-a say due to contracts!"

He chuckles.
He looks left.
Then looks right.

"Haven't-a seen Bowser in awhile. Good-a. Maybe he's busy buying presents for Jr."

Then. He had an epiphany... didn't Bowser try to one time dress up as Santa and steal presents?

...

Uh oh.

"...Maybe I should-a be on the lookout-a."
"You know, almost everyone I know thinks I would-a be a Fire type Pokรฉmon trainer, no clue way, but--"

He has a clue.
He's just playing dumb.

"--I think I'd-a rock a nice team of Grass types! Or maybe Electric..."
"Christmas is right around the corner! What should I gift everyone... Well, I already have one planned for Luigi!"
"I sure have! I can write multiple books-a with how many places I've gone to over the years!"

He's not a good writer though, he'd just leave that to his brother.
"You said you've travelled around a lot, right?"

Courage tilted his head slightly at the plumber, smiling a warm smile as his ears perked up slightly, having interest in hearing about Mario's varying adventures.
The man took a seat on the empty chair next to Courage and taking a sip of his own cider. It was heaven!

"Phew, just what I needed-a!"

He said happily before taking a bit of the dumpling. It felt as if the food and drink warmed him up even faster than the heat from the fireplace.

Courage nodded, picking up a dumpling of his own and chomping on it, taking a quick sip of the warm cider afterward.

"Make yourself at home; mi casa es tu casa!"
"Wowie, those look-a good!"

He compliments the chef, taking one of the beverages and a dumpling. He looks at the empty chair afterwards.

"May I?"

"May I?"
He shuffled carefully over to the rocking chair, using a hindleg to push his folded clothes to the side and placing the tray down with a soft huff of exertion.
Now was the time the plumber took off his scarf and gloves, placing them near the fire while also rubbing his hands together once more.

"Ah... much-a better..."

He lets out a sigh of relief, patiently waiting for the dog to return with warm food and drinks.
The change in warmth was immediately palpable as the fireplace roared to life, a cosy blanket of heat settling into the old bones of the house.
"Hmm... Hey! I hope you don't-a mind me setting up the fire place!"

He says, raising his voice before lifting his right hand and snapping his fingers. A small flame emerged in the palm of his hand before setting it gently on the wood, lighting it up.

"There we go, all set-a!"

The entire building was made of various types of wood, the majority of which was unpainted, excluding the doors and staircase. A fireplace with old, dust-coated photos sat atop it sat across from the entrance, unused timber neatly piled inside, ready to be burned.
While he didn't take off his gloves or scarf, he at least fixed them up a tad.

"It really does remind me of Twilight Town..." He says to himself, eyeing up the entire home.

Courage chuckled, taking off his winter clothes and gently placing them on the old rocking chair (whilst ignoring the armchair like it carried the plague), before he vamished through one of the doors into another room.
"Feels-a like I stepped into my grandparents place! Kinda nostalgic."

He looks around, offering to close the doors behind them. Immediately, it was warmer than the outside which was a blessing!
//I DID IT AGAIN

maybe I'm just sleepy

"Lead-a the way in!"

He said with a smile, taking one last look at the building from the outside before being invited in. It looked somewhat beat up... Maybe, just maybe he could help fix it up a bit...? At least, once he's warmed up that is.
"I'll get us both a cup on the stove, then!"

A warm smile grew on Courage's face as they finally approached the old, green door of the farmhouse; It definitely looked like it had seen better days, but considering the size and the dog's missing arm... repairs would be an uphill battle for Courage.
"Oh! Spiced Apple Cider is great-a! It's one of my go-to's actually!"

What a silly guy! Mario was sure that if he met any Yoshi, he'd become friends with them! Or even Poochie!... Actually, on second thought, he wasn't sure about that one.

"How about Spiced Apple Cider? I don't drink a lot but that stuff's just 'mwah'!'

He made a kissing gesture, letting out a doofy little giggle as he did so. It felt nice to talk to someone again in person; last people he'd met here had been... Vince and Bee, maybe?
"Can't-a have winter without a nice cup of Hot Cocoa!"

Those chicken dumplings sound good too... He doesn't even remember the last time he had one!

"Place doesn't-a look too shabby either!"

"Plenty of hot Cocoa!"

Courage was glad to steer far away from the topic too, ears tilting upward as the home loomed ever-closer, his paw scratching absentmindedly at his side.

"I've got a load of party foods too, and some winter twists on my favorite of chicken dumplin's!"
Yep, maybe definitely don't ask about that. Especially with that reaction. He wasn't one to pry.

"Well, I'm-a glad to just get out of this extreme weather! Got any food and drinks-a for the wintery occasion?"

The man smiles, hoping to steer the conversation elsewhere.

"...Yeah, a lot happened."
He nodded affirmatively, continuing at an even pace as he kept walking, falling rather quiet after his response.
Picking up his own pace to catch up, he looks at the dog with a raised brow.

"20 years ago? I guess a lot of stuff happened huh?"

He was somewhat curious, but wasn't sure if he should ask or not.

He smiled, picking up the pace now the farm was in sight (and also intent on getting Mario out of the biting cold of Nowhere's winter), his tail swaying slightly.

"It used to be cosier, honestly... You'd have loved it 20 years ago."
"Well, since that-a pipe I came through isn't far from here, you could-a technically visit my home any time you'd like!

Turning his attention forward after Courage's exclamation, he narrowed his eyes a bit to focus.

"Wow! Looks cozy!"

"...That so? I'd like to visit somewhere that isn't either a blast furnace or the artic circle!"
He gave yet another chuckle, before letting out a soft 'oh!' at the appearance of a sizable farmhouse on the horizon.
"There it is! My home."
"'Nowhere' huh? I know a couple others who are also from a place that-a shares the name!"

He chuckles at the coincidence, looking at his surroundings as he continues the conversation.

"Summer isn't-a too bad back home, neither is Winter. It-a depends on the place, really."
