Took advantage of the break in the rainy weather streak yesterday to fire some earring cabs. πŸ”₯

And I was able to find all the pieces after the fire was finished! πŸ˜…

Art is political. My art lets you know that Caddos are still here and that our culture is worth preserving.

Thanks Rep. Ralph Norman for recognizing my work and the grant! πŸ›οΈ

I’ve been experimenting with shapes and also seeing how thin I can get the clay I processed from Caddo Mounds. I’ve been able to get the cabs 2mm thin, making the earrings a little less heavy! ✨

So excited for how this basket turned out that I made during a class at Caddo Mounds! What should I keep in it? 🧺

We finished the traditional Caddo pottery classes this week by firing our pots!

Over the last 13 months, we learned to hand dig clay, process it, shape it, and fire it. All in the same place our ancestors did before colonization.

Always love seeing my jewelry at Caddo Mounds State Historic Site in Alto, TX! ✨
It helps the time to go by, but a few beads were spilled. πŸ˜…
I was inspired by water when choosing these bead colors. This pair is titled Kuukuh, which means water in Caddo. πŸ’™

Acorns and oak leaves represent the cycle of life in Caddo culture. I made these in honor of my 8-year-old son whose favorite color is red (hahtinu in Caddo). β™₯️

These earrings are en route to the Craft Council of British Columbia! ✈️

The cabs are made of clay that I hand dug and processed in East TX (where my ancestors did before colonization). I fired the cabs in a traditional fire, which gives them unique colors. πŸ–€
