Pinned tweet! Howdy, I’m Stephanie! I do GIS work in environmental policy! My work goes into the preparation of assessment and informational documents that aid in decision-making under the USA-ESA for vulnerable species! I’m a long distance runner, cat walker, and naturalist. Located in SATX. ✌🏻
Selfie! I’m wearing an oversized sage-green long-sleeve tee and purple Goodr sunglasses. My hair is brown and very long. I’m also wearing a maroon and yellow hip pack and holding the handle of a black and neon yellow tape-type Flexi leash (I’m walking Fitz, my cat lol). I’m in a dry ephemeral creek bed in an urban wooded natural area. Fitz (tuxedo longhair cat) reclining in green foliage in a natural area. He is looking upwards towards the viewer and seems happy. He is wearing a blue Rabbitgoo harness with a neon yellow tape-type Flexi leash. Blooming plains coreopsis in a disturbed natural area with gravelly bareground alongside a paved greenway path. A checkered-white butterfly visiting a firewheel flower. The surrounding vegetation is tall and somewhat weedy.

Got my first 19-mi attempt done today! All that’s left in my mileage build for this marathon training block is my first 20-mi next week! I have 3 of those 20-milers in the plan with smaller long runs (16-17 mi) in between. I have 5 more weeks then a 3-week taper. The light is in sight! 😁✊🏻

🏃🏻‍♀️😎
Post-run full body selfie at the greenway trailhead parking lot! I’m wearing a white sports bra, grayish-purple running shorts, purple Goodr sunglasses with green reflective lens, and a lime green and white cap with “GO ONE MORE” on the front. I’m holding a blue softflask water bottle.

Included in the photo are screen grabs of my running stats from Strava: 19 miles; 8:10 /mi pace: 2:35:12 total running time; 643 ft elevation gain; 1,698 calories; 165 bpm average heart rate. My weekly mileage: 5.42 miles; 7 hours and 3 minutes of running time; 2,543 ft in total elevation gain.

Oh yeah, I also got that bobcat skull from forever ago finally mailed off to my client! It cleaned up BEAUTIFULLY. It had some trouble spots I was worried I wouldn’t be able to pull, but I managed (it’s because I kick ass)!

💀
The same bobcat skull from the quoted post. It is now pearly white. I’m holding it in my hand and it’s frontward-facing towards the viewer.

I’ll level out again after the race. I won’t be eating like a wild animal anymore and I won’t be logging such high mileage on top of existing strength training.

I knew my body would change and I’d gain some weight. It’s worth it though if I can nab my race goals. Only 5 more training weeks to go. 😵

I’ve gotten kinda bulky during marathon training and idk if I like it lol 🥲

I love how strong I am right now, I’ve just put on a lot of muscle mass and it’s…heavy lmfao. I don’t know how to really explain it because I’ve never been this muscley (as an endurance athlete, not a lifter) before lol

🏃🏻‍♀️
Post-run selfie in a neighborhood street. I’m wearing a white sports bra, black running shorts, a green and white running hat, and my Pride Goodrs. I’m smiling and making a 🤙🏻 sign.

A common grackle stands in green grass with fallen autumn leaves. The bird is black with a glossy, iridescent bluish-purple head and neck, and has a distinctive pale yellow eye.

But I guess in other news, we traded in the Jeep and got a Subaru Crosstrek. 😅 I thought I was going to miss the Jeep a lot more than I do…but the Crosstrek drives like butter at the bottom of a hot skillet and the safety features are honestly top notch. I love the cruise control on this thing lol
Selfie in the parked Subaru Crosstrek. I’m making a 🤙🏻 sign with my left hand. I’m wearing my Pride Goodr sunglasses and a long sleeve oversized Polo grayish-blue shirt.

Please forgive me. I feel so sad and frustrated and angry. I feel like the person I am is tucked away right now and I’m just scraping by at the surface because I feel hurt and bruised. All I know how to do is remind my loved ones that I do indeed love them.

Thank you, all. 😔💜

I have extreme artist block like you guys wouldn’t believe and I haven’t been wildflowering much. And even though I’ve seen some badass insects lately, I haven’t felt motivated to post here right now. And for all that, I’m so sorry. You guys are good to me, and I’ve been so absent.

In and between it all, I’ve really been putting my focus on my marathon training. I’m at week 9 of 13 training weeks now. We’re only 9 weeks out from the race. That’s leaving me with 6 more training weeks and 3 weeks of taper. And through it all, I’m finding my motivation for anything else slipping.

Another event happened around the same time as the OTHER event at [redacted umbrella place of employment here] that put me in a tough spot as an openly nb and ace person at the professional level.

And now there’s a government shutdown that is further impacting me at the professional level.

🧵 Hi, y’all. Just dropping in to say hi. I know I’ve been gone. Truth is, things have been tough in our corner. There’s specific things I shouldn’t mention on a very public account on bsky but since THAT ONE EVENT on Sept 10, a lot of things have been tough. Both personally and professionally.

People posting “starting my sub 4-hr marathon prep today teehee” on the SATX Marathon Strava club page 9 weeks out from the race and here’s my clown ass on week 8 of my block lmfao

I know lantana can be invasive lol we actually have the invasive common lantana too. But the Texas lantana is very much native here!
craniatology.bsky.social
I realize that I’ve shifted most of my content here to marathon training lol I’m sorry.

I’d like to make it up to y’all by sharing one of my favorite natives that currently in crazy bloom on the Greenway: the Texas lantana! They typically grow as short shrubs and bloom from April through October. 🌿
A rather large Texas lantana growing along the edge of the greenway trail in full bloom. It has many flowers that are yellow and orange in color.

In light of OTHER news, my husband has brought it to my attention that he was never a big My Chemical Romance fan and now I sadly fear that I might have to get a divorce. 😔

In my day to day, I often have to surround myself with neurotypical folks and it’s exhausting often being the sole AuDHDer and folks just choosing to not understand me. With the continued language about autism from our current administration, I feel like jello that’s been dropped on the floor lol 🫠

I’m still alive! Just needed some time off with literally everything that’s happening right now. 😣

I completed my week six of my marathon training block today with a solid 17-miler! I’m getting pretty strong! I’d like to see that pace go down a bit but I’m sooo happy with my progress!

🏃🏻‍♀️😎

🧵🕷️🌿

I didn’t manage a photo this time, BUT I found a wandering male brown recluse in the kitchen this morning lol Just a little PSA as we shift into fall, if you are in recluse country, you may start spotting them inside. They are docile and super easy to catch in a cup and toss outside.

I embrace my running toe blisters because when they heal and crust over and harden, my toes will be impenetrable and nothing but my glycogen storage will stop me.

Also! I completed week 5 of my marathon training block yesterday with a 16-miler and 47 mpw! 😁

I saw another runner with a Y’all Means All cap and we nodded to each other in agreement as we passed on the greenway. They were marathon training too. I could feel it. 😌✊🏻

🏃🏻‍♀️😎
Post-run full body selfie at the greenway trailhead parking lot! I’m wearing a pink sports bra, black running shorts, black Goodr sunglasses, and a black cap with a neon sign-like rainbow on the front and sides that read “Running is for Everyone.” I’m holding a blue hydroflask water bottle.
