Our Chair delivered a statement calling for more efficiency in the mechanism to increase multisectoral cooperation. He also stressed the importance of CSOs and the private sector in an evidence-based approach to counteract the threat of smuggling of migrants. 2/2

As a former DEA agent, actively involved in Pablo Escobar’s arrest, he offered his priceless expertise in the field of law enforcement and criminal justice. Moreover, he called for the UNODC to collaborate even more tightly with the Alliance. 2/2
During yesterday’s Constructive Dialogue, the Alliance had the honor to meet Stephen Emery Murphy, who joined the event as a representative of Libertas International, an NGO dedicated to the fight of human trafficking and the recovery of former victims. 1/2
The event was an important occasion for CSOs to express their perspectives: only a layered, tailored, and sensitive approach can tackle this complex matter. Our chair delivered a statement, calling for CSOs’ knowledge to be applied by States in implementing the TIP Protocol. 2/2
Today, the Alliance participated in the Constructive Dialogue on Trafficking in Persons. The debate covered topics on victims’ protection, non-criminalization, and physical and digital evidentiary issues related to cases of trafficking. 1/2

Pavlina Pavlova addressed the CCPCJ this morning as EEG expert during the TD session, highlighting the growing risk of cybercrime, its impact on women and youth, and the vital role of civil society in ensuring transparent and inclusive implementation of the Convention.

On Wednesday, the Constructive Dialogue on Firearms took place at the Vienna International Centre, as part of the UNTOC Review Mechanism. Key firearms-related issues were discussed by experts.

This week the Africa RPM took place in Addis Ababa. It was the fourth of five RPMs in preparation for the 15th Crime Congress. Civil Society representatives took part in the meeting and Nchokwe Donaldson Chepape delivered a statement on behalf of the Alliance.
Yesterday, the Coordination Meeting for the Africa Regional Preparatory Meeting was held online. Tobias Krachler moderated, Mirella Dummar (UNODC) gave inspiring remarks, and Alessia Pistilli presented the Civil Society Survey. The main event starts today in Ethiopia,best wishes!
After the successful conclusion of the Vienna RPM, we eagerly anticipate the remaining regional preparatory meetings for Africa (April 8-10) and Western Asia (April 23-25) in 2025.
During the first 2 days of the European Regional Preparatory Meeting, held at the Vienna International Center, NGOs representatives had the opportunity to deliver around 21 statements, raising important issues and concerns to be brought forward to the 15th UN Congress next year.
PRI and UNICRI facilitated a side event on Green Prisons: A Guide to Creating Environmentally Sustainable Prisons at the margins of the RPM. Researchers shared insights on green strategies in Italy and Japan, along with lived experiences from Norway and England.
