Our leaders must treat gun violence as a human issue, not as a partisan issue one. They owe this to the families who grieve tonight, to the young people who deserve schools free of fear, and to the memory of those we have lost.

They’ve hid behind and contributed to partisan gridlock in Washington, blocking common sense solutions that could save lives and keep our communities safe. The gun violence epidemic now claims the lives of more than 40,000 Americans every year.

The tragic reality is that gun violence spares no one. For years, too many national voices have weaponized fear, normalized extremism and poisoned the well of our discourse.

No child or family should ever have to live in fear because of gun violence. Yet, our children continue to bear the brunt of a crisis that far too many have come to accept as normal. We cannot accept a world where students, educators, and families carry this burden.

Our hearts are with the Evergreen community after the tragedy at Evergreen High School. We are grateful to the first responders who moved swiftly to protect lives and prevent further loss.

The Colorado Young Democrats are frustrated by the outcome from last week’s DNC Summer Meeting. Slow action on subjects like the genocide in Gaza do not reflect positively on the Democratic National Committee when countless Palestinian lives balance so precariously.

Big tech and Gov Polis should reimburse the state of Colorado for the colosal waste of time and resources. They made a “deal” then they broke the “deal”. And now we are beginning second on a total POS negotiated bill (SB25B-004) to delay implementation of minor regulations on AI.
